bootmod3 cs vs stage 1 idle

I've already started a ticket with ptf to inquire, but it's the weekend... Does anyone know why my stage 1 91 oct tune would idle SO MUCH BETTER than the oem+ cs tune? I run 93 oct shell fuel.

Yesterday I flashed backward to the cs tune while waiting for my cbc install. As soon as I started it up the engine had a rougher idle when it came down to idling rpm. Not as bad as a miss, but definitely rougher. Much more variation.

Anyone have any idea why that would be? Assuming it's not plugs/coils as I'm strong on stock or stage 1.

Yes I’ve noticed the same thing. The oem+ CS map drives a lot better, has excellent throttle modulation. But while idle, seems like the rpms are bouncing by about 50-100rpm. My car is completely stock.

For that reason I'm staying stage 1. Unless ptf has an answer for how I can cure that, when they get back to the office. Stage 1 91oct on 93 oct fuel and no gts dct tune is pretty nice feeling to me.

Mine is a 6 MT, but yes stage 1 is nice. But I gotta say the part throttle is a lot smoother on the CS map. If you don’t mind update the thread when they respond. They are very good at responding.

I had a little vibration at idle for the first couple of days running Stage-1. It was especially vibey the first time I ran the car after the tune. Now it's nice and smooth

For sure! This is my 3rd car with bm3. They're amazing. 100% sure they'll have the answer. Even if it's just "drive it some and see". Went for a long cruise today smashing it in stage 1 and it was a blast.

I actually have flashed many times. On my 328i I went from stage 1 to stage 2. with zf tune. 435i I did the same. As well as just flashing when I'd adjust burbles. I've never noticed any rough idle after a single one. When I went back to stage 1 again, it was fine. Not really a big deal. A step I did take is to lower the boost 20% in 1st, and 10% in both 2nd and 3rd. With a stage1 91oct tune running on 93 oct gas, and boost reductions, I feel I'm about as safe as I can be without a cbc yet.

Hmm I’m also running the 91 oct map on 93. What’s weird is the CS map didn’t do the odd idle the first time I drive it. But it did it the second time lol. I didn’t leave it on long term so can’t tell if it fixed it self, stage 1 has been fine, and I threw on the CBC.

One cool update is bootmod3 is working on the ability to have multiple maps on the multi map. As in map 1 stock, map 2 oem Cs, map 3 stage 1 etc.
