There is no "Genuine" VLAND. They are all currently by VLAND. These things are complicated as hell to replicate to begin with so I can't imagine anyone trying to undercut another manufacturer by cheaping out on something this cheap already.

Abdul is the cheapest though and says he does his own QA of the VLAND products, so I see no reason to not go with him.

Red or Smoked/Blackline? This video should answer your question. Installed smoked on one side and red on the other.

Thanks. People kept asking me this question. I said forget it, let me just shoot a video. I hope it's helpful for anyone trying to make this decision.

thanks. Really helps. I was considering the smoke on my BSM F83, but I really prefer the clear bright ones. Car is dark enough.

I also didn't thread the connecting wire through the hole where the lights sit (some people have cut this trim to not squeeze the wire). If I do this I couldn't find a way to get the cable out! Instead I lifted the rubber tubing part and passed the cable under it.

Also the lights have an instruction pamphlet and in it there is an insert for the convertible specific instructions. They say to remove some of the tabs but I only saw them after install. I might take it apart this weekend and make those changes to see if the fitment can get better. For some reason it lines up perfectly on passenger side but on driver side the fender portion sits a little deeper than the trunk portion leaving a bump in the transitions between them.
is there any cleaner way on F83?

Check this post for details on replacing the tail lights on an F83:

https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1449047

Basically you're just following the existing wiring loom on the passenger side from the outside tails to the inside (make sure to leave slack where the existing wiring does). You then repeat the process on the driver's side using the passenger side run as a guide. I ran the wiring into the trunk through one of the grommit holes behind the tail lights (there's only one hole that goes all the way through).

Make sure to *not* remove any of the tabs from the lights (that's only required for the coupe). I also had to splice in more wire to make them long enough to follow the existing wiring all the way up to the inside lights for a completely clean install.

Thank you sincerely for the help. I had everything pulled apart but did not think that the wiring was going to reach from inside tails to outside so I bailed! Do you have any pictures on your F83?

Sure, here's some shots of the wiring job finished and cleaned up.
Passenger side:

Driver's side:

Here's a shot of the driver's side before I cleaned it up to give you an idea of how I ran the wires:

And here's a shot of the grommit hole I ran them through:

Unfortunately I didn't think to take pictures of the wiring on the trunk up to the inside lights before I put all the carpet back on, but you just follow the loom all the way. As I mentioned, I had to splice in about an extra 2' of wire in order to make the run.

Hope this helps!

Did you get VLAND ones? If yes, that's the problem. I can try to help you out. That's why it's always an advantage to directly from us. There is no wait time for warranty claims.

Is there any update regarding the brightness of turn signals? I am in sunny Florida so I was waiting for it to be ironed out.

Debating on purchasing a set for my F80, but I have an '18 with the LCI lights and don't know if purchasing these will be "worth" it just to look cool. Maybe if someone in Houston has a set installed and I see it in person then it will change my mind. I mainly don't want to deal with malfunctioning bulbs or problems later on with an aftermarket unit.

I installed the taillights but the turn signals/hazards blink like crazy when activated like they are on crack.

Is this something that can be coded out?

Found this vid and noticed that wires/back of the lights differ from vland.
Also startup sequence looks smoother.
