do the cali car covers not have windows for the rear license plate? i thought it was legally required to have the plates exposed, even with a car cover on.

the OEM BMW outdoor cover (for my E92 3er) had a plastic vinyl window for that purpose.

Car cover

As winter approaches in Canada, I want to buy a custom car cover, just wanting to see if anyone has suggestions on where to pick one up? I needs to be indoor only and protect from dust and accidental bumps

Thanks

I just purchased a California Car Cover - http://www.calcarcover.com/

I ordered the outdoor superweave cover. Great fit as they cut the patterns to fit the specific car.

A little pricey, but you get what you pay for when it comes to these car covers.

I ordered this one from California car cover. Came in last Thursday. Indoor only and their most popular. Will post a pic in a day or two.

As I promised in post #49, here is a pic of the California car cover. It's the Plushweave model, which is for indoor use only. They advertise it as their most popular cover. I can understand why. Exterior layer is 100% cotton and the interior layer is nice soft flannel. Workmanship is top notch, as is the fit. As you can see in the pics, it comes with mirror pockets as well as a pocket for the antenna. Because it is made to order, it took about ten days before I received it. More than happy with the cover! Not looking forward to late November and winter storage, but when that time comes, all set with the cover and the lithium ion charger

This is my "home-made" solution, for less than $100, is for indoor use only made out of Lycra, originally made for my former X6M, but fits pretty well, kind of loose at the bottom but no issues so far

I have used Covercraft Noah car covers in the past on my Corvettes and my wife's BMW 5 series. Living in SoCal I was concerned with UV protection since the amount of rain is minimal. When I was in military in 90's and stationed in Virginia I did not have a garage to park my Corvette and the Noah car cover did an outstanding job protecting the paint against the elements (Rain and snow). The Noah has been my go to cover ever since. For those of you that live in a sunny climate the Covercraft Sunbrella is a cover my friend with a 911 has who resides in Arizona. Here is a link for the Covercraft Noah. http://www.covercraft.com/cartlink/i...-tab-customize . I like that Covercraft provides a chart that shows the strengths in various categories for each of their car covers.

Just reviving this thread, i took a quick google today and i dont see any new developments.
I had my heart set on a cover similar to that of the 1M.

I definitely prefer OEM though

While this is true, I will take minor scratches that can be polished out over these two F*cking cats that have etched the paint on my last two cars in my car port.

Are you planning to wash the vehicle every time before placing the car cover on? Also, which battery tender did you order - CTEK Lithium US? Any plans for tire savers?

Greetings from the Mitten! Ill be storing mine soon as well!

Just ordered the Noah California Car cover and a California Duster

Car delivery is set for next weekend and have an appt. to get it clay barred and 3 coats of Zaino and then a Zaino clear coat polish sealant the following weekend. That will help the dirt to not stick.

Daily California Duster wipe and then cover should do a pretty good job of keeping cat & bird etching away.

Followed every 6 mths by a maintenance Zaino application, which will keep any hairline scratches from the car cover to a minimum.

US charger.

Greetings back at ya! I only use the cover when I put it up for winter storage and when I do, it's washed and waxed immediately beforehand. Yes, I have the CTEK lithium US charger. No plans for tire savers.

Groovy! Ordered the same setup as you!

Where do you plan to connect the CTEK leads: battery in the trunk or battery posts under the hood?

Finally got my M4, *and* finally got to try on the California Car Cover. This is the Superweave Indoor/Outdoor Car Cover. Note that this is the lightweight, 1/3 compact cover. The fit is excellent:

I connect mine to the positive terminal under the red cover under the hood and a bolt slightly forward of the positive terminal on the same side for the ground. Works just fine there!

Great week upcoming, weather wise for some more miles before the hibernation! Thank the good Lord for global warming!

I had my E46 stored outside with an E46 car cover on it, but the wind did a lot of damage to the paint. I would be weary of putting a car with a cover outside. My two cents...

Car cover

Hello mates,
So...Finally, after a 3+ year hiatus I am back in an M! My MW F80 M3 has landed and will pick up over the weekend maybe. I just moved and as much as I love the place I dont have a garage! I need to secure a solid car cover until my carport is built. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Pics of my M soon to come

I just ordered a "Noah Cover" from California Car Cover.

They are custom made for your particular car.

I have used them on my previous Corvettes and think they work well and are of good quality.

They have many options depending upon your needs.
