I've got a F82 buddy with a custom 93 tune and XHP DCT who drags with me. He just snapped one OEM.

My F80 MT6 held up pretty good (retired). I launched at 4K just like you. Tires were 325 R888Rs so I stuck pretty good. I didn't do burnouts with that setup, just the 4K quick drop (not a dump).

My new F82 DCT will get DSS axles when the built motor and Dodson goes in.

I'm honestly so surprised that not too many people run into this issue

The first time I broke it I was on a Bootmod3 stage 2 OTS tune (maybe 500whp?) The rest were on full E85 so close to 600whp. So I guess it varies from car to car. Also mine is a vert so not sure if that plays a role here

Really shitty oem axles from BMW. I'm now getting them rebuild at Driveshaft shop.

Anyone else ran into this issue?
Yeah I'm now on my 3rd set of axles and luckily my dealer has been more than happy to replace them under warranty all 3 times. Warranty is running out though in 10k miles so I'm also looking at the dss upgrade as well.

It's possible the warranty extends beyond the 10K since it would be a recurrence of a pre-existing repair.

I don't know bmw warranty but for my Audi, it was 1 year after the repair even it was out of warranty as long as it was the exact same part.

Think it may have anything to do with the car being a convertible?

I am unsure as well but I'll end up asking my SA before my warranty expires.

I would think the added weight might have a more adverse effect on the axle. Considering I was doing some sliding with the top down on not-so-great roads I'm fairly certain that wheel hop contributed greatly to the snapping from the previous two incidents.
