"BMW Remote" App Question

If you haven't done it already, you need to make a call to BMW Assist from the car to enable the connection to the car.

So it sounds like I can ask my dealer (in the states) to enable this option? What about remote unlocking? Why does it state we have to call them for remote unlocking?

The dealer can't help you. You need to call BMW Assist at 1-888-333-6118 or use the Idrive to contact them in-car. They will ask questions to confirm your identity and initialize the application. It could take up to 30 minutes for the servers to update.

As far as the app not unlocking the car, its a liability / legal issue. They want to take the additional step of confirming ownership prior to unlocking the car. This also avoids someone using the app to unlock your car without your permission although the app is protected by a PIN.

So even though everything else is active, I still need to call to have them make just the ventilation work?

I don't know what you mean by "everything else is active", but in order to use the My BMW Remote app to honk the horn, lock the doors, flash the headlights, and turn on the ventilation fan remotely, you must activate the app through BMW Assist. The app is activated as a whole, there are not individual options. The only option that has been discussed that is not available regardless of activation is remote unlock. You must call BMW Assist each time you want to do this.

Once the app is active, this will all be clear.

That is what I meant... I have already activated everything but do not have the ventilation option.

Now I get it. Are you using Android or IOS? BMW Assist told me that on the Android side there is a an old non-US version of the app floating around that may not be compatible. Is your app called "My BMW Remote"? If not, you may want to delete it and go to the Play Store and download the latest version. None of this may apply to IOS. I do not have an Iphone to test.

Latest remote app for US has no ventilation function. Mine only has horn, unlock/lock, and flash lights. No extra tab or icon or secret code to get vent option.

i installed the first one and now the second one wont work, i guess sicurity issues. but one has the ventilation option and the other doesnt, the second one seems more modern and spohisticated. you can also set up ventilation in your car before getting out, from the i drive screen

Not sure about the US version but the Canadian App has the GPS feature.

I can't even flash the headlights

I get an error message saying: Unable to connect to the BMW server

NVM i realized I was using the European app and downloaded the US, the EU app lets you enable ventilation how come the US one doesn't!?!?
