"No warning tones" error, audio dead
So I get in my 2 week old car and let her warm up, drive half way down he street and put my seat belt on to stop the annoying dinging. As soon as I put the seat belt on I gt an error on the iDrive unit "no warning tones." Audio is completely dead. No radio (FM, AM, SAT), phone won't connect to bluetooth, car wont ding if seat belt is off, and if I am not mistaken no "enhanced exhaust" sound" I turn the car completely off at a light, start it up, same error. Let the car sit for an hour, same error.
So I take it to the dealer. They take it back. After 2 hours the SA comes out "Blown amp, we need to order it, be a week. Can I get you a loaner?" I say no thank you. He says "OK, they are doing your 1200 mile service because the key said it was ready." I lose my shit and tell him the car is two weeks old and has 300 miles on it..I don't give a F.... what the key said. Go stop it. BMW says 1200 miles for a reason. He comes back and say OK, they only did the oil change but not the whole service. Needless to say I was furious and told him never to perform any service on my car without my authorization again. Anyone else have the issue with their audio? Last edited by devildog5811; 07-09-2015 at 04:06 PM.. |

I realize there is a proper break in period, but it IS a condition based service system. Could be you were driving it hard enough to warrant an early service?
That said, I've had issues with nearly every CBS BMW (own car and loaners) with it asking for service at random times, then sometimes reverting back to not needing it. Computers man...

No issue with the audio, but BMW Encinitas pulled that shit on me too. 300 miles in, they do the 1200 mile service without telling me. Scum bags. |

Well at least you get 2 oil changes now. I'd prefer a 300 mile one then also a 1200 mile one. The first 100 miles is where most of the shavings come from. I'd rather have that out asap. Dealer should have asked first though!

This is generally a benefit in cases where the customer has the car at the dealer and there is 900 miles til the next oil change---as a courtesy, this is actually a nice thing. Now, in your case and OP case, your 1200 mile service was due within 900 miles. So, the oil change was authorized. But, clearly even a mild oversight would have caught the ridiculousness of doing the first service after 300 miles. You guys did the right thing by insisting they do the 1200 service. |

That's odd.
I haven't seen that with both of my cars yet. And yes they shouldn't have even tried to sneak in a 1200 break in service at 300 regardless if the car said it's ready or not. Never, ever let a dealership sneak up on you with this shit.
