I'm not so sure because when you check the link both of them has underlined P but they are looking a bit different. Check the link provided to make sure.

I too highly doubt RockAuto sells fake plugs. Regardless of where they were bought i always go online and make sure my NGK plugs are 100% Authentic.
NGK's website shows u how to spot a Fake NGK plug.
...and if u buy NGK plugs off of amazon, only buy them from seller named NGK...DO NOT buy from "amazon" seller or any other 3rd party seller, so u know they''re coming direct from vendor NGK ...

Another two website Links below to help spot a fake...

These newer fake ones are nothing like they use to be, they are becoming harder to tell.

Pls see photo, the P alphabet on the JAPAN word has an underline on the fake ones. The real one are on the top . The wear pattern after 1 day is very obvious between the fake and real.
Real have underlined P as well.
U can always tell real from fake just from the laser welded iridium tip. It's nice n shiny on the weld.

Glad I saw this thread. My wife drives a 2008 R350 which has about 67k miles on it. I replaced the spark plugs with genuine oem mercedes plugs that I bought on eBay for 35 bucks or so for all six.

Fast forward to about a month ago, the check engine light came on and when I scanned it I saw random misfire codes and also cylinder 3 and 4 which are on different banks. Those were stored codes. There was also a thermostat code which was current. I replaced the thermostat and cleared all codes and the CEL hasn't come back yet. Driven about 700 miles since I discovered the misfire codes without any issues.

Misfires could be a lot of things and rather than throwing a bunch of parts at the car I should probably just replace the eBay plugs with ones bought at a dealer. I didn't know anyone could or would even forge spark plugs. What a shame.

In any product you can have different level quality and counterfeit items.
1 - Original item made from the OEM brand or a subcontractor
2 - Equivalent product from another supplier OEM approved
3 - Products made by the same OEM supplier but sold with another brand to make them cheaper
4 - Products "fallen" from the truck
5 - Counterfeit that can be close to the OEM buy may not work properly and/or cause a damage

so products 1 to 4 are ok, but #5 will depend on the type of product. I will never buy a counterfeit brake pads for obvious reasons but I don't car to buy a fake floor mat

Guys new to the forum, Toronto Canada. Bought NGK (97506) plugs from RockAuto. when i got the shipment the receipt had country of origin as China which had me concerned. so i went to a local Napa to buy the same plugs to compare. Its unbelievable how close they are but you can definetly tell that the tip of the plug is not the same. The real NGK plugs from Napa have a dark grey/black tip, which I believe is the Iridium, the ones from Rockauto do not. also the quality of the blue printing is different. i heard that NGK plugs now use lazer printing and you can tell the ink is consistent with no dark areas unlike the fakes. just wanted to make everyone aware. in the photos the real ones on the left

I believe both your plugs shown are authentic. My indicator is they both have the properly carved ground strap and the copper washer with cut edges. Lettering is proper on both too.

I buy from my F8S and B8S from FCP Euro so I pay once (well, twice with one refund) and know I've got real parts.

I agree with Jimmy. The electrode coating on both tips appear to be genuine.

Left side is from autozone, right side from Amazon. The "G" should be center on the spline. and the serial digits should be at the same spots and not different every time. Last picture is all 6 Amazon plugs

So if you are untrained to check spark plug's tip and shapes, can i assume that because it has green letters (BMW Group and NGK) it can be fake, or green letters can have OEM too?
