Unless there's something wrong with your tips, they're just going to take them off and put them on the new exhaust. That's what they did to mine. No need to replace them if there is nothing wrong of them.

When I got my exhaust replaced, they didn't tighten one of them down and one fell off, they did replace that however.

They ordered my new MPE muffler today. They're gonna call me when it arrives so they can install with no downtime. When he ordered the new exhaust he asked me if I had the MPE Carbon fiber tips or Stainless tips? I'm assuming new exhaust will come with new tips and that they're replacing them... we shall see 🤞🤞🤞

Take your old carbon tips off before you go back to the dealership then, that way you will have two sets of tips. lol.

You really should have had it braced top & bottom. From what I've heard, only one brace isn't enough sometimes.

See my post....

BMW shop foreman said if I were not under warranty they would've just welded it back together and then welded in a reinforcement plate.
But since I'm covered under warranty he said he's gonna replace entire unit.

How much did it cost to weld and add the braces?

With the titanium tubing & welding rods total cost was about £150GBP. So about $200 probably.

The CS exhaust doesn't have any issues that we know of yet, although it is basically the ZCP exhaust with different tips and those are fine. If you optioned the MPE then just check if you have the V2 with the extra braces.

no because the CS exhaust is the same of the base model. nothing special about besides different tips. that thing is built like a tank. It will last a thousand years.

Are you saying you had a revised version crack?

My MPE was installed by my local dealership in Texas in 2017 and it rattles right around 1,100 rpm. I can visually see the vibration at the exhaust tips on a cold start. The noise is pretty bad for 10 secs. Once the engine warms up and idle rpm drops below 1,000, the vibration stops and exhaust note becomes “normal”.

I’ve ask my dealer to check the installation twice and both times they said they tightened the tips and braces and say everything is normal. It clearly isn’t. I checked for cracks but can’t see any. The car has 9k miles, exhaust 6k miles.

Quite disappointing, I would have kept the zcp sport exhaust had I known. Had a 2011 e90 m3 with MPE before and never had issues.

Anyone else has rattle issues with MPE at 1,100 rpm?

Have you checked for cracks yourself or are you just taking the dealer's word for it? The cracks are easy to see and happen in the same place all the time. Did you also do any mods to your valves?

I checked for cracks myself and couldnt see anything but I didn’t jack the car. The dealer says everything is good. No mods on the valves.

Yes cuz it will crack again......and again.....and again.....
The only ones that don't crack yet are the latest version with the braces already there from the factory
