I am trying to flash my M4 and keep getting a drive train malfunction. Just a stock tune for now and I am only playing with the exhaust burbles. Have tried reflashing and recode (there isn't an online recode option) a few times now. Have also tried pressing the ignition switch 3x too.

I thought the whole purpose of BM3 was to avoid having to unlock it outside of the app.

It is up to MY 2018 and maybe 2019 that doesn’t have March 2019 update (not 100% sure on 19’s)

Yea after doing some more research, it appears that 2019+ S55s engines have a OBD lock and the only fix is to remove the DME. Last time I looked at their website (last week), there was no mention of removing the DME and it was all software.

Have you looked for an authorized BM3 dealer within reasonable distance?

Closest one is 3 hours away, which is surprising since I am in a major city.

Removed DME for a friend about a month ago on his 2020 and it’s a bit of work. For most, probably not a job you want to do yourself. Probably best for someone who has done it before.

I am friendly with a guy who works at a tuning shop that mostly works on exotics, but he said he can do a bench unlock for about $300.

not sure if this is coincidence but after tuning it with the OTS stage 1 91 octane, i started hearing some scrape sound when i start the ignition. Its very short but loud - like two piece of metal scraping for a second. I don't hear it any other time. Anyone have any idea what this might be or if it could possibly be related to the tune?

Possibly exhaust flaps opening? Do you have the “GTS Roar” enabled?

Car drives OK otherwise?

Yes, it drive fine and YES i did turn on GTS Roar the second time i flashed it. Wondering now if it's on by default from the OTS map since i didnt change any settings the first time. Ill turn off and see if it goes away. Thanks!

When my car starts, I can hear the exhaust valves open up and close, rattle. They are noisy, at least in my car and does sound a bit of metallic sound. In my case, the only way around is to set them open all the time.

May be worth having a friend stand around the vehicle when you start it. Good luck.

Is it safe to run Stage 2 91 Octane (95 RON) map with stock downpipes and M performance exhaust?

That's been a topic of debate. Bootmod3 lists this as "recommended" whilst others state it's necessary.

To be honest, stage 2 91, shouldn't be a proboem with OEM down-pipes and street driving. I wouldn't run this at a track event.

the car should automatically dial back timing if the fuel is causing issues.
You should try to be running 98 RON if it's available though.

Thank you I don't intend on doing track driving on my F83 but I wanted to know if an occasional hard acceleration 100-250kph or top speed on an Autobahn would be an issue.

Thank you. We only have 95 RON down here. I wish we had access to 98 RON.

Sorry for the noob question...

Does BM3 offer an EDC (code out) delete option or mode?

Cheers!
