They didn't change programming, shift speed, shift rpm targets, or anything between the X3 m40i transmission and the X3M transmission?
If they are literally exactly the same, then I stand corrected, but I believed the zf8 in the x3m received specific tuning to the vehicle

My f80 is only driven in nice weather...I have an Acura MDX as a daily. I thought about selling the mdx and getting a x3mc as a daily but it's too much vehicle...m40i would be plenty.

Because it’s an SUV and most won’t even come close to using the power/handling of an X3M(C) (or X3 M40 for that matter) on the road. Most of these buyers care about is utility, comfort, luxury, reliability etc etc. It’s a very small market for these and it shows in sales. They are discounting them quite heavily and they still aren’t selling.

I'm laughing at the $600/month lease price.
Go for it - bring it home. Dare ya. Whole bunch of crap has to happen 1. Car has to be punched as a loaner (BMW is already in trouble for that) - oh and this means your warranty started when they punched it. 2. Car has to be discounted way below cost, plus the $4,250 lease credit. 3. 57% residual and my back of the napkin says $700/month ish - without interest, lease init fees, tax, title, whatever... So pony all that up. In fact, I can get $600 a month with enough money down - which you should NEVER do on a lease. 4. and if you live in a wintery area, don't forget the snow tires.. The M3CS people had a very high priced MSRP (residual is based on that), massive BMW support, AND dealers who were willing to take a huge loss on a car they could not move. We aren't there with the X3M yet..

So close to $600 on the dot? I agree isn't realistic without a decent more down. But with just startups down you can get a very decent lease payment now on these. My dealer was telling me that no dealers want them and BMW is kind of forcing them to take some for lack of a better term. My dealer currently has 6 in stock and I think more on the way with none of them moving. So, I'm guessing we are going to see M3/4 CS like deals on these in the not to distant future unless something changes quickly. Also, I don't think dealers were losing a lot of money on the CS deals as BMW stepped up with a ton of trunk money etc to move them from what I heard. |

It might be the cabin fever talking, but I've been having the same thoughts. Absolutely love, LOVE my M3cs but with a 4 and 6 year old, it has kind of gotten tiresome either taking my wife's car (Honda Clarity) or our beater (2013 Tiguan).
Selfishly, I'd like to keep the M3cs, but consolidating that and the Tiguan in to an X3Mc is also attractive.

I have yet to drive either, but if I was contemplating, I'd test drive both.

But that's just my thought of course (and if I'm right might explain why the X3M/X4Ms are simply not moving).

How's the ride in the X3M?
My wife had a previous gen (2018) X4 M40i, and it had an awful ride. Everyone got a bit queasy feeling when riding in the back seat. On a positive note, that little SUV would haul ass.
