San Marino Blue Paint Dilemma

So I found the first stone chip in the hood of my new M4. Soul crushing, the first is the hardest. I called BMW to order a container of touch up paint, come to find out BMW doesn't make or sell touch-up paint in San Marino Blue. Has anyone with this exterior paint color encountered this issue? How can you touch-up your car!?

I got my SMB touch up paint from Dr. ColorChip. They can make any color with the paint code.

Another vote for Dr. Colorchip.

My dealer couldn't order Daytona Violet touch-up for me as well but I was able to order from Dr. Colorchip and color matches perfectly.

I also used Dr. ColorChip for my wife's Individual San Marino Blue M3 CP.

If this one chips hurts this much, consider PPF to prevent additional chips?

YMB color code is B68. It’s a perfect match. Covered the area with ppf and it’s just about impossible to see.

+1 for Dr. Colorchip. I used it for my Dakar Yellow and still use the leftover for minor touchups a few years later.

My belief is if you can afford an exotic color, you can afford the ppf protection that it requires to maintain the integrity of the paint. Hence I stayed away from any metallic paint, but since I drive the car everywhere I still got the full ppf.

+1 for PPF

Worth the money if one chip gives you that much angst.

Problem is the chip never matches when you go close up and it would still annoy me as I have paint chips on my metallic white "Prius" like a Pimple face chips (red due to 3 layered paint) everywhere. PPF for the hood was not much compared to the 3 layered paint job to fix that portion. Lesson learned.
