I spoke with my lawyer folks and was recommended I file a BAR complaint. Which I did.
I should have used CnC Collision.

This doesn't surprise me because shops have a bunch of different people working on the car. I assume the right side had to be repaired with replacement parts so the PPF was basically "removed" when they took off the damaged parts. The parts that were undamaged and reused, i.e. the gas lid, still had PPF on it that the painter didn't know was still on there... so he sprayed right over it. You would think every freaking body shop would know to ask their clients what parts of the car are PPF'd or just test it to see since the so many cars and particuarly high end cars like Porsches likely have some amt of PPF somewhere on the car. But, at the end of the day, it's a body shop so they're no hiring the smartest, most well educated people. I would have your PPF guy strip all the PPF, then have them buff out the whole car. I wouldn't surprise me if you found other parts of the car with PPF that they painted right over. Get your gas lid repainted and any other touch up work done, then re-PPF the car. BTW, I would tell your insurance adjuster about the PPF damage caused when the shop polished out the PPF finish. Re-PPFing the car should be covered as part of your collision repairs. You may even get them to re-do the ceramic coating but I'm pretty sure they are obligated to at least re do the PPF if your car had PPF on it when it was hit. Same goes for window tint if the window had to be replaced. Insurance should cover it even if you have it on your front windows which I know is illegal in Cali. |

Bought my first Porsche.
Except, not really. I hold my CA dealer's license, which grants me the possibility of bidding freely on auction sites without going through a broker (extra perk: not having to pay registration nor insurance on any vehicle in my fleet). My sister has been telling me for months she wants a Panamera, so here it is. Just in time for Christmas. I am aware the demographics of this forum are largely American and older (thus wealthier), and frown upon any DIY, non-Western budget method of living, but here I am. 2018 Panamera 4, sitting at 57k miles Never worked on one myself before, and even given the minimal damage, I can definitely say: fuck Porsches. I mean damn, I thought BMW's were tedious and over engineered, but this is next level. On the flip side, talk about a tank. Best built vehicle I've encountered. Here's to the second Porsche my family has ever owned! After my dad owned one back in 1990's post-Communist Romania. Sister on the hood, ironically. |

The Civic that hit me, was starting to catch on fire and was undriveable from what I *sort of* remember. Hence, why he physically ran away from the scene. Moron. Quote:
Just today after I submitted everything and got a reply from a dude from BAR, the shop's GM's son (who I was also in contact with) also contacted me asked me what was going on as he was out of town. I told him the jist of it and he swears they did not cause that to my car and being honest, I have no way to prove they did but in that 3 and a half months, SOMEONE did. The shop had my car the longest, so I pointed my finger at them based on the other parts they did to my car. Because Porsche DTLA had my car as well, they inspected the mechanical parts of my car to give it a clean bill of health. The reason why I reacted so harshly is simply because of the owner/GM. I learned dealing with my father's temper that you fight people like this the same way they treat you. With hellfire and brimstone otherwise they walk all over you. Which is exactly what I am doing. If only they just replaced the seal around my passenger headlight and got a new gas lid and repainted it. I would have dropped the detailing aspect (maybe). However, his father didn't want to do things "that way" so I said fine. I'll do things the hard way then I'll make you eat your words. No one treats my car this way and gets away with it. Someone will pay for it. Quote:
Personally I don't think Jag have any clue what they are doing ever since that Chinese conglomerate took over. They went one direction far too late and... we will see where it goes.
