Recaro Profi SPG's installed in F80

Lockdown projects continue....

Recaro Profi SPG
Macht Schnell Clubsport mounts

So I finally got round to installing these bucket seats with the extra time I now have on my hands. Purchases Macht Schnell clubsport mounts from Kevin@EAS
https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1679578

In retrospect I should've purchased the floor mount adaptors, sliders, and seat brackets separately
https://machtschnell.com/competition...f8x-m3-m4.html
https://store.vacmotorsports.com/vac...f82-p3207.aspx

These floor mounts allow for a lot more options to mount the seat belts and receptables. The MS Clubsport mount only has brackets on one side to mount the receptable, but not the actual seat belt base, which was previously bolted onto the OEM seat in an F80.

This thread shows how the floor mount option may be superior to the "turn-key" solution from Macht Schnell
https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1683863

As I'm planning to still run my OEM 3-point belt I need to do some customisation to set it up properly. For the receptacle end I'll be getting a generic buckle from ebay. This will allow me to pass thru the seat belt inside the Recaros' belt hole instead of over the seat

still need to figure out a way to anchor the seat belt, prob need to drill a hole in the seat bracket somewhere

Here are some pics installed, sans seat belts, along with red start button and red M1/M2 buttons I put on at the same time *yeah I know the silverstone armrest sticks out like a sore thumb. Need to get an alcantara one*

Hmm. I’ve had these seats on before in another car so I knew what to expect when I got them. For sure getting in and out takes some getting used to and wouldn’t expect a daily driver to use these seats. But I do.

They’re really comfortable to me. I’ve had 3-4 hour drives to the race track in them in my previous car no problems. Everyone says the stock seats are excellent. I do believe they’re very good. Much better than E92 seats but buckets seats hold you in on another level. Not to mention the weight savings. Sorry I didn’t weigh anything but my back can confirm significant weight differences.

I’m just at 6’ tall and 35-36” waist and I wouldn’t recommend these seats for anyone larger than myself. I was contemplating going for the Profi XL’s. I didn’t have a chance to try one out before I bought it and I didn’t really want to order the XL’s and find out they’re not tight enough. I did also consider Sparco QRT-R which are a lot cheaper. But in the end went for the tried and tested SPG as I’ve had them before and there was a local used set on sale for cheap

Another comment on these MS clubsport mounts is that they are loooooooow! The highest setting on these seats is just about the lowest setting on the stock seats. for my height (just above 6') it's perfect, you might need to add some height adaptors if much shorter than myself

Edit: kevin@eas reached out to me and will be sending a couple brackets to mount the seat belt to, after reading this thread. Thank you!

I would agree that these seats are very comfortable. But one of the things I really like about them, or any race seat, is that they transform the way your car "feels" when driving it. They have a way of making you feel more connected.
