I was watching one of those specials on BMW and it seems the bulge on the e9x m3 was a necessity to fit the engine in the car... so it was a question of function. I doubt they will add a power dome for the sake of adding a power.

That is my fear moving from the e90 to the f80. Although if it is indeed lighter it might feel smaller than the current m3.

I think it looks good so far though... the fenders are filled out nicely, better than the e90.

Italian publication Quattroroute has produced a render on the forthcoming
BMW M3 Sedan and yet again so close but yet so far...

All someone (more adept) at rendering can do is change the front , the side intake-decorative bar and add the new wheels and more flaring of the wheelarches to come close to the actual car.

I am excited about the new engine but the exterior styling is too overdone in my opinion. Why all those creases and lines in the bodywork? Can't it be simplified?

No, later. First info probably in Shanghai. Not sure were shall we see the M3 Concept, if at Shanghai or Frankfurt. Two other Concepts also have to be revealed, the X4 and the 2 Series. M3 Concept will still very likely be shown at Frankfurt. But some say at Geneva 2014.
