I am fairly certain at this point that the chrome will be gone from the front and replaced with black or ferric grey, as was recently hinted at by sources at BMW. The "M3" badge should also return to the front grill to better distinguish it from the base 3 for the general public, much like the E30.

I agree...I hope the real car is much more aggressive stance styling. I bet it will be.

I'm interested to see what the final version will look like. But I think that my next car will be the F82 M3/4 (whatever they call it).

I hope the power dome is a bit more prominent and the hood vents are a bit more aggressive a la all new Dodge Viper style and part of the design rather then little plastic things on each side.
Also, hope the fender flares for front and specially rear are more aggressive and exaggerated hinting to M3's racing Heritage in ALMS, and DTM.

i think this photo is pretty accurate, after all the f10 m5 still looks pretty conservative. I do think the rear fenders will be flared a little more than depicted.

I miss the days when you could distinguish the M from the non M version. Esp with the E46, you knew the car was an M3 without thinking twice. The E9x series closed the gap a little between M and Non M versions of the 3 series and I feel that the gap will be even closer on the F30 and F80 cars. Hopefully there will be more aggressive differences between the models so that you can easily distinguish the cars besides some fenders and a bumper we'll find out soon enough!

Hmmm, I must agree with others on this one. Seems rather bland for an M3, but maybe they will be a lot more aggressive on the coupe'!

Things that I found on the rendering compared to the e90 m3:
--> Whole front end needs to more aggressive. --> Rear fender flares should be more aggressive. --> In other words, the whole car should be more aggressive! I have to agree with GOLFFRR's post (#40). The looks on the e90/e92/e93 M3's may be hard to beat. See below (Take note, I am talking only about AESTHETICS (LOOKS), not performance between the current m3 (e90, e92, e93) and the new upcoming F80 m3): If you think about it aesthetically, changes from e30 m3 to e46 m3 has a lot of changes. Also if you go from the e36 m3 to e46 m3, there is also lot of changes aesthetically. Going from e46 m3 to e90 m3 has a lot of changes as well aesthetically. IMHO, the F30 3-series looks very similar to the e90 3-series. So when it comes to aesthetics going from e90 m3 to F80 m3, it may be a little harder for BMW designers to beat the e90's looks time round since only minor changes can be seen between those 2 cars.

While I agree with those wanting a bit more aggression from the M-version, I also feel obligated to let you know that my legal team will be contacting you shortly regarding an erection predicted to last well into 2014.

has it been confirmed by BMW that the M variant of the F30 body will be called the F80?
I just don't understand the purpose of this, and it also has never been done like that with previous generation BMWs. Outside of the "ENTHUSIASTS", such as ourselves..I don't think many have any clue that they currently own an E46 or an E90 or whatever model they have.
