Agreed. Can you give the new wheels a shot?

3 Series Sedan (F30)
3 Series Sedan LWB (F35)
3 Series Touring (F31)
3 Series GT (F34)
M3 Sedan (F80)

4 Series Coupe (F32)
4 Series Convertible (F33)
4 Series Gran Coupe (F36)
M4 Coupe (F82)
Hi Jason,

Thank you for making this clear. I still wonder how a 4 series Gran Coupe would not compete with a 3 series sedan and vice versa. I mean, I don't see what would justify the extra cost of a 4 series GC for buying one over a cheaper 3 series sedan or upper class 5 series.

The 6 series GC has no real competitor in the BMW range but I don't see the same place for the 4 series GC and how much BMW would charge for it so that it deserves its purchase.

The same logic applies to the 6 Series Gran Coupe and the 5 Series. It's the same relationship, only moved up the model 'ladder' -- the 4 series line will correspond to the 6 series line as the 3 series line does to the 5 series line.

So, you can also ask the same question of how a 6 Series Gran Coupe would not compete with a 5 series sedan and vice versa. If BMW decides to build it, we can assume their bean counters see a viable profit in it.

Sure, but the 6 Gran Coupe buyer is not a 5 series buyer to me. He/She's older, probably earned more money, and now that kids are gone, wants something more personnal, particular, different and still sexy.

Maybe this 4 series GC is to compete with Audi A5 Sportback. It's just I don't see much difference between 4 series GC and 3 series sedan, except that it may be sexier. Let's hope it won't be too expensive.

+1 on the new front..just looks retarded where it flattens out unlike the e90/92 which was much sleeker...the best looking 3-series chassis in my opinion i mean BMW outdid themselves when they designed that model. With that said, i'm not looking forward to the F32, or whatever they plan on calling it.

im with you on that new 3 series, it is sorta ugly in the front. the hood looks so flat, and that gap between the light and the grill is cheesy. ill stick to my E92 its sexier for sure.

You've got to read the Car and Driver article but okay, "failure" is a bit harsh. I just assumed these cars would always remain on top.

I see the 6GC taking sales from the 7er, not the 5er. Why even bother with a 7er when you can get the 6gc with the same features, comforts, and better looks.

I think a 3GT and 4GC are pointless vehicles just to confuse buyers. Should just keep it sedan/coupe/wagon. There is no need for a 4GC as what could they possibly do to make that more attractive to buy than a 3er. And if you were seriously looking at the 3GT, you should just buy an x1/3er wagon or step up to the x3.
