The true racers are still single clutch. Aventador, LFA, F1.... DCT is very boring. One sensation less.

I don't know... I have driven so many cars in my young life because of the work my family does, and the M3 SMG and the M5 SMG where just the ones I had the most fun with. That's why I also bought an E60 M5... because of the V10 and the SMG. But that's just my opinion from my experiences.

Thanks for the impressions. I've had my car for five days now and, though I'm still gathering impressions, you pretty much summed up what I would have said. I've got a good road trip planned for this weekend. Can't wait!

Nice write up. However I don't think a 335 comparison is useful to me. Sure as hell be better in all aspects even with M package. More interested in what I'm missing as an E92 M driver.

I'm sorry I just can not live with a c63 simply because it has a mediocre transmission. The transmission plays a very big role in performance and enjoyment which the c63 lacks. Until Mercedes equips their Amg cars with a good responsive transmission I will not give it a second thought.

In reality, it is capable of ripping off 100-millisecond shifts and that is not bad at all. Sure, it is frustrating when the downshifts don't come as quick as you'd like in M mode but the automatic modes are very, very good.

There was a lot about it in another thread a couple of months ago with detailed instructions, but you need to have software and hardware to do it (google it). It looks pretty straightforward if you have the means, but I'd rather put a gun against dealers head and have the boys in his service dept. do it for me.

AMG to M
Great review Ybbizz! I currently drive a 2012 C63 AMG as well, but the M3 has been haunting my dreams since it launched. Your review just pushed me over the edge, and I now have a deposit for an M3.

The C63 is a great car... it will be interesting to see how the new C63 compares to the F8X. I bet it will give the F8X a run for its money... too bad MB didn't offer a true DCT. If they did, it would be a really tough call for me.

Gthal, I remember your screen name from MBworld, along with zibby.
I will remember the c63 fondly, it truly is one of the best cars ever made. That engine and exhaust note are going to be legendary. The M3 is going to be my daily driver. The overall package of the M3 makes more sense and equates greater than a monstrous exhaust note. Getting better gas mileage is a bonus. I'm looking forward to the DCT. I would've picked manual but my wife refuses to learn how to drive a manual. My build date is Sep 22. It's going to be a long wait. |
