Best solution for Winter Tires and Wheels
Hi all,
The winter season is coming I need to buy the winter tires for my new BMW M4 (F83) from 2016. I currently have the current setup: rear 275-35R19' and front 255-35R19' I would like to ask you which of the following options do you suggest me and if the they are valid: 1. Front and rear 255-40R18' with unofficial rims (still didn't find them, any suggestion is welcome 2. Front and rear 255-35R19 with unofficial rims (I found some brands which are not to pricy) 3. Front and rear 255-35R19 with my current rims. I fear that with this option my original rims will be stressed with the seasonal mounting/unmounting and that might get ruined Any suggestion is more than welcome |

Answer is - it depends on how much snow you get. I live in MA and get quite a bit of snow, I run 245 square setup with Nokians on 18" wheels. Very happy with the setup, better on the pavement than I thought and good in the snow. i think the 255 setup would be better term in the dry, but too wide for a lot of snow.

I bought a set of 513M wheels and put 255/40/18 LM001s on them. They worked well last winter. Scour the forums to find a used pair. They are forged wheels so stronger than the ones you get on Tirerack.

But if I want to go skiing then I might encounter more snow. I think I will keep my original rims and just buy the wheels. |
