No - I mean jam an iPhone 6 case in there to hold the bottom piece back and activate the charging. Then rest Plus phone on top - much like the picture, but using the case to hold the switch not his fingers.

Has anyone confirmed the iPhone 8 can charge via Qi standard using the existing center console OEM wireless mount?

Note 8 fits!

My solution to this problem... Just took delivery a couple hours ago and I thought I would post up "my first mod"

For reference, my Samsung Galaxy S7e fit with a Ringke Slim case.

Here are the steps you need to take to get a larger phone to fit... This is my initial run, so I may need to take extra steps. It works for now.

First, you'll need to pop the charger off... Which can be a pain depending on the tools you have. Be careful so as to not mar any of your trim, etc.

Notice the screw; there is one for each side of the slider. I didn't have anything that small, so I used a 1.8 flat head from an electronics repair kit.

Here it is removed.

In order for the charger to come on, you'll need to slide the bottom portion back. I was a little concerned because I thought this might keep the charging light on, but it looks to time out when no key is present. Not sure of the behavior when the door is locked.

Note the rubber bottom as it should help keep your phone in place. I also have an Alcantara case, so that helps out a bit. It's pretty difficult to slide. I think you could probably put something behind it to keep it from sliding back. It'll move back about 1/4" before it stops charging.

Taken with my wife's iP6 potato camera

I did the exact same thing yesterday. However my slide is spring loaded, how did you keep yours from sliding back? I ended up using a small piece of plastic to keep it in place when I want to actually charge. I also noticed that after turning the engine off completely and restarting I need to move the slide off then on again in order for wireless charging to engage again.

Yeah, I found that out as well... but even though the slide doesn't operate the same, I just slide it back and fourth once and it works.

I'm looking for alternatives, but I'm okay with doing this for now. I wanted to pick the least intrusive methods. I thought about a "U" bracket that will allow for the back end to sit further back.

Does this wireless charging snap in adapter fit the E92 centre console?
It has the phone connectivity package and I have a snap in adapter for my iPhone SE. Just bought an iPhone X and wanted to see if this wireless adapter fits in there.

How fast/slow does it charge on your iPhone? I found it to be useless for my S8 and Note 8.

I didn't really pay attention to the charge rate, it doesn't seem too fast though. Maybe the same rate as your S8 and note? not too sure i'll keep tabs next time I use the wireless charger

Tab is a switch... tab must be slid and kept slid every time a phone is placed on the charger. If not then the phone will not charge.

Yup, I figured that out.

It's a minor inconvenience... Thought about getting something to make it easier, or taking "U" brackets and using the existing piece.

Same, was pleasantly surprised. I believe my Spigen case comes in tomorrow, I’ll report back if I remember.

Thanks! It's good to hear that the native wireless charging option works with and without the Spigen case.

I never questioned the wifi thing because I don't believe I got it either. 2018 M3 w/ every option but the CCB. Wireless charging works perfectly on my S8 and my X albeit slower.

The X charges differently from what I learned. After the 11.2.1 update, any % below 50%, iPhone X will fast charge up to 50% before slowing down a little to 80% then regular charge to 100%.

My Galaxy S8 isn't fast charge in the car though, it's slow.

Wireless Charging Mod

My preliminary thoughts on my wireless charging mod:

I haven't yet decided on the location but am considering integrating it in the cup-holder slide cover or a pocket on the right side of the shifter (by integrating the X5 wireless charger pocket).

Originally I was looking at some inexpensive Qi chargers on Amazon as well as considering the following two Qi chargers:
Inbay Qi Charger Part # 240000-03
FreedomCharge Kit # FDMC-1210

However my current inclination is to use a BMW wireless charger since they also function as a cellular antenna amplifier and designed to mitigate the EMF while charging. This is a desired feature since I occasionally find myself in areas with weak mobile coverage.

The part numbers I am considering are:
84108781455, 84108781452 and 84108807424
Ive seen them go on eBay for as low as $45 and $65 for the antenna amplifier.

The units are Novero WCH-184a/b/c produced by Laird.

From what Ive read up, the wiring goes to the Aerial Amplifier/ LTE Compensator (required since I dont have wireless charging option) and power. (the LTE amp is plugged in between the wireless charger and the Telematic Box)

Ive attached a few relevant documents.

6Plus? Isn't that way too big for that charger?
