Had an '11 M3 sedan and now in a '13 M5. Very interested in the upcoming M3/4 as a second/weekend car. Loved the high rev V8 of the E92, but very intrigued to see what happens with the next gen. Thinking of just buying another E92 as insurance in case and then trade later if the new one is that good. Miss my M3.

It will be a tough sell if you don't like the way it looks. For me the looks were fine, so it made it easier to spend for the vehicle. What sold it for me was with 19 in tires it could go off road (never will though) and drive in bad weather and the winter. The fit and finish is excellent, especially when ordered with the all leather interior. You can put every bell and whistle on it and a lot of the tech and toys are great. With the air adjustable suspension, simply hit the sport button, steering tightens and feels great, vehicle drops in height and takes corners better than anything this size should, and the engine has great torque and revs perfectly. It just keeps pulling and before you know it you are way past 100 mph. I love it!

I will definitely give the Cayenne a test drive. I've learned to be more open minded. I didn't initially like the E92 M3 but I have one now and love it.

Excellent. I look forward to seeing what you think of it. Hey, try out the new X5 while you are at it and see how the two compare. A lot of choices out there and test driving things is all part of the fun.

I just got a new 991 but I'm still excited for the new M4. It was my dream car for sooooo long. It was a natural upgrade from my 335i, it would have been my first M, fireworks would ensue, and an excited congratulatory mob would rush in and carry me off into the sunset. My only complaint against the M4 is that it looks too similar to the 435i Msport. I think they've diluted the M brand too much there.

Still really excited, might get one for my GF. I'm sure we'll be able to make it a mini-rocket with $800 tune....right???

In many ways the 991 is very similar to the outgoing M3. Gotta rev it. If you do, it's a screamer . It's definitely not torquey like a 335i and some people claim it's slow but I've had blast. With PDK & Sport Chrono, my 991 is 0-60 in 4.1 and that's not slow in my book

Plus it's nice to have something different. None of my peers have it, not to say they couldn't get one, but again, for now, I'm unique.

If you are a purist for NA with a current M3 and your lease is up or it's time for a new car, I think the 991 is a good entry move to an arguably better tier / brand.

Drive a GTS, the sound alone makes me want one every time I hear it. I think an S with sports exhaust should sound very similar. The ride and handling is unbelievably good on these current Cayennes, maybe even good enough to overcome the styling if you're not a fan. I actually think it's the best looking SUV on the market right now.

On topic, it's interesting that every time I see pictures of the E92 and F82 side by side I think the E92 looks outdated but then I go out and see one in the real world and it still looks as sexy as ever.

Why waste space and mpg when i6 tt has been proven to produce more than enough power.
Unless you leased that 2013 e92, you aee about to take a hard depreciation hit when f8x come out. Mind as well just keep you e92 and tell yourself how it will be last of true na M car from bmw

Anytime someone drives a car off of the dealership lot you are going to take a hit. These are not investments, but toys that we are all privileged to own. If you like the F82 trade it in for whatever they will give you on your car. If you don't like that then keep your car. It doesn't matter! Nobody knows anyone's financial situation on this forum and just do what makes you happy.

Not with this particular post per say, but everyone tries to justify or rationalize their situation. At the end of the day what matters is your own sphere of happiness in whatever place of the globe you occupy.

It's interesting but the E92 styling really didn't do it for me. I thought it was okay but not spectacular. The new one to me is pretty hot.

I think the only styling I liked from the last generation of E series BMWs was the Z4 and maybe the X5. Both already were showingF series design traits.

This is car buying 101 why on earth would anyone buy a 2012 or 2013 M3 knowing that the car is going to be replace and its in the LAST YEARS of production, i mean you bought a 70k car that was guaranteed to become obsolete in 1 year of ownership, to summarize: irrational decisions, but to each his own
The E92 has won just about all of its reviews and I almost took an RS5 because I had just sold my 2011 S4 (nice car), but I wanted to experience this vehicle. It has been great to be able to experience the car for the values that it is known for (though not perfect, but what is): V8, steering, no mechanical issues or problems, etc.

I knew that a new design was coming down the pipeline (something always is), but now I can say I experienced both the NA and FI. I look forward to picking up my new M4 as I have my money and spot locked in at the dealership. Whatever I sell the M3 for won't make a difference and by this time next year I can compare and contrast the virtues of both. I plan on buying a lot of cars and other things through my life and in the end I really enjoy all of the vehicles I have owned or will own. Life is good and no complaints from me.

Listen respectfully, i think you made your point. I also think people know about late production models take a bigger hit when new gen come outs .

I think you don't understand is that some people simply do not care as much. And people buy what makes them happy! they wanted a new M3, leave them alone my god.

If someone is to purchase a so called obsolete non current model, the two very best choices are a E92 M3 and a 997.2 GT3. Both cars are, and will be great cars for years to come. Even when compared to the models that replace them.

What???

Why waste space? What space? Engine compartment space? Why would I care how much space my engine compartment has? I could care less if V8 TT takes up more space. Shoe horn that bad boy in if all I care.

I willing to bet the V8TT would give the E92 m3 pretty similar MPG to what it sees currently.

After owning a v8 m3 ( or any v8 sports car) I have zero interest in going into a V6 version. I look at it as downgrade. The sound of a V8 motor trumps the V6 motor alone! It might be a great motor but IMO, it sounds like crap. I've never liked the sound of any v6. And if I wanted MPG, I would have purchased a Prius.

I leased the 2013 for business use, but if I don't find something fun in a v8 + to own by then, I might buy just buy it out.

I'm just so bummed we didn't get the twin turbo v8. By the way, I love how the new m4 looks too. It's just that v6 I hate. Ugh.

Speaking of upgrades: If or when BMW returns to its true M3 roots (i.e. 4 cylinder), I can only imagine the anticipation and delight will be even greater than now because progress will have come full circle.

Thanks for saying it.

Carlos appears to know everything about the current and future M3 specs. But I haven't hear or read anything about him getting behind the wheel of a E92. Some things you just can't experience reading a book. When I purchased my M3, it was a choice that I made for the simple reason of what I liked about the M3 NA V8, period. No regrets. And when the day comes when I'm ready for something else, I will once again decide what I want again as a toy.

And I thank GOD for my blessing every day.
