Extended warranty

Has anyone got a quote from BMW lately for M extended warranty?

Ive just been quoted £143 a month for both the M2 and M4.

£250 excess no emergency service.

It is double the cost to insure it against crashing which is mental.

This has really put me off buying one.

I bought an 2017 M4 a couple of weeks ago. Got in touch with my local BMW dealer (Sytner) to see what options I had for extended warranty, service pack etc. They were quite helpful over the phone, but told me to go in and speak with someone who will be able to help right away.

So, went in, and all I got was "no". Asked if they could do an inspection to check car was OK (bought from private garage) and they said it's not something they offer standalone. Asked for service pack - no. Asked for anything they could do for my peace of mind - no. They were totally useless and unhelpful.

So found a local BMW specialist, who was most helpful, and carried out a minor service on it, synced with BMW database, £120. Even carried out an inspection.

Anyway, rant over, back to the original subject - when selling my old car via Autotrader, the ad came with a 7 day warranty for the new owner, through Warranty Direct. I checked out their website and did a quote for warranty on the M4. Their basic was £115/yr and the full one was something like £700 for 3 years. £50 excess, max labour charge £75/hr.

I haven't gone ahead with it, as still got a year left on BMW warranty, but maybe something to consider?

Anyone else looking into Warranty Direct or had any experience with them?
