Adaptive Suspension with R888s on Track / Living in SF

First off, apologies for yet another Adaptive Suspension thread...

I'm considering the M4, coming from my E46 M3. I love my M3 on track - I have a Ground Control Street/Track kit that I bought when I started using stickier tires as the stock suspension was too soft for the R888s.

Two questions about the Adaptive Suspension:

1) How much stiffer / softer does it get compared the passive setup?
I live in San Francisco where streets are 3-dimensional (I don't mean our famed hills), and my E46 setup is practically unbearable. So I'm looking for a new car that I can drive on the city streets without cringing every other block.

2) On the stiffest setting, how well would it work on track with R888 tires? As mentioned, I am planning on running these on track, as I do with my E46. However, on my E46, stock passive suspension was too soft and I replaced it. Any thoughts on if, with the stiffest setting, I'll be ok running these?

The EDC suspension on my E92 was one of the biggest improvments coming from my E46. On the E46, I always found the stock suspension a bit too stiff for our bad Quebec roads and a bit too soft at the track. The EDC strikes a very good compromise. In comfort, it is comfortable enough for the DD and Sport is decent enough for track use with R-comp tires (NT01 in my case). I was actually quite surprised on how well the stock suspension is able to deal with r-comps. On very bumpy tracks, I use the Normal setting to make the car less darty.

I expect the active suspension on the F8X to be at least as good as it is on the E9X
