Transmission
Guys this was my first time trying out the 6MT and it's SICK!!! The auto-rev matching was something I had to get used to because every time I down shifted I kept expecting the jerk and I was bopping my head forward LMAO!!!
The car is sublime looking but I have to say that the 6MT is amazing, and I am SOOO glad I got it and not DCT. I've driven a total of 10 miles now and I don't want to stop! Ask away if you have any questions about the 6MT.

I'm not letting anybody drive my mistress (and I don't understand why, but every time I refer to her like this my wife punches me in the arm) until her cherry's been properly popped aka she's broken in.
After that, it is no problem. Based on the amount of mileage I am planning on doing, that should be somewhere in the neighborhood of late August, early September.

In all seriousness, I am really debating the 6MT / DCT thing. It's not the money (although who doesn't like NOT spending $3k) but the roads here in Houston are SO BORING. Hoping the MT gives me a bit more involvement. I come from NE where every road is straight for about 80 feet before an elevation or direction change....or both! Down here is like watching paint dry. Have you driven an M5 with 6MT? I drove one, was not super impressed. I liked the rev-matching (LOVED IT) but seemed out of sorts for such a big car. If you've driven one, would love a comparo. Also how would you rate the clutch feel? I hate vague clutches. Enjoy in good health! |

Good news is, extended warranties are refundable.... so if you do end up trading it in, or you just don't want it, I'm pretty sure you can get a refund (prorated). Congrats! |

The clutch is much softer than on my S4, the clutch is actually pretty long for a beamer, I remember driving my ex-s '02 330ci and it was a really short annoying clutch. This one is almost as long at Audi / VW (see my garage for history) but it's a lot softer, and its friction point is at the best possible spot, about 1/3 of the way down. Very nice. Shifting in this car is so easy I think it would be easier to teach my wife to drive manual in this car than in any other I've owned (don't get my wrong, I never will, I'm just sayin "IF").
