Rear Fogs/BFD on OLED?

Does anyone know where to find the rear fogs on US-spec CS/GTS cars with OEM OLED tail lights?

And how does brake force display work on US OEM OLED? If at all?

Did you ever try that mod to see if rear fogs work on US OLED tails? Just because that vid is for aftermarket lights, doesn't necessarily mean US OLEDs don't come with fogs, as we know from regular F8X tail lights

This is a matter of coding, you are able to choose if you want the main brake lights to flash under intense braking, or if you want it to flash the fogs (or both? can't quite recall).

If you're still curious, I can look up track vids where I'm behind a GTS to see what it does

I did the button mod and coding on my friends M4CS and the rear fog symbol shows up in the dash when you press the button but nothing happens at the rear end, making me think that either special OLED specific coding is required, or that there are US specific OLED taillights and that they lack rear fogs. I've done the same coding on my F30 and F87 and it worked so I'm scratching my head.

If you have information or videos proving that the US OLED fogs are functional I'd love to see/learn more. Usually US cars employ BFD via the rear fogs but if there are no fogs in the OLEDs then I wonder how the BFD works. Might be that they flash the brake lights or indicators?

Here's what they look like! They seem to be using the outside portion of the side indicators, visible within the first minute (only under harder braking):

actually, CanAutM3 might also have access to pictures/videos for BFD on OLED tails working differently, as he's in Canada?

Hope that helps

Ah yes i see that outside portion lighting up. Curious why it only works for BFD but not as a rear fog. I suspect it must require special coding. Thanks for the video, hopefully I can figure this out in the near future.

Guessing because it's a portion of the side indicator, so not great as a fog light?

You should connect with someone that can do remote coding though, try SaNGRia as it might be possible to redirect the rear fog functionality to those lights... or make BFD flash those side indicators, or main brake lights, etc.

Good luck in your search, keep the community posted!

What you see for the BFD is not the fog light. The rear fog is located on the tailgate section of the OLED cluster, right beside the reverse lights. It has its own distinct coding parameter, the one for the standard taillights does not work for the OLED. Since I no longer have my M4cs, I discarded my coding files, so I would not be able to tell you what parameter it is.

It is Almaretto that told me what coding parameter to change to activate the rear fog on the OLED, maybe he remembers.

As a tidbit for those that don't know, the guy in the video significantly over complexifies the modding of the switch. No need to remove the vent nor the light switch cluster. Just use a plastic trim removal tool (or a round edge knife with some electrician tape at the end) to pry out the fog switch, it will pop right out. Trim the tabs with an exacto, and pop the switch back into place. A less than 5 min job

EDIT: Dug a little, I could only find this thread in which most of us were already involved, but it does not provide more answers: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...highlight=OLED

Finally figured this out thanks to DLag30

US Spec LCI F32, F36, and F82 do not have the hardware necessary to code on the rear fogs. This applies to the OLED tails on the M4 CS and GTS as well. You can however repurpose another light to act as a rear fog which is what I did. I used the inner indicator portion but you can also use the outer portion, third brake light, reverse lights, etc. And yes, the indicators do continue to work normally, they simply have an added secondary function now.

Coding:

FEM -> 3060 -> NSL_Verbaut (Value= Verbaut)

REM -> 3063 -> Mapping_Nebelschlussl_L_function (Value=nebelschlusslicht)

REM -> 3063 -> Mapping_Nebelschlussl_R_function (Value = nebelschlusslicht)

REM -> 3063 -> Mapping_Nebelschlussl_L_output (Value = 00x1A)

REM -> 3063 -> Mapping_Nebelschlussl_R_output (Value = 00x1B)

Results:
