As I understand it, MSRP will be the price I pay should my number be called.

Tell your dealer you will only be willing to pay msrp, your number will never be called.

I was told the same thing about the GT4, but ended up not getting the allocation and was forced to pay a 10-20K markup when the dealership did finally have one coming in. Ultimately, I didn't end up getting the car and bought a Z06 instead; I'll eventually get one though

I'm paying msrp. It DOES depend on your relationship/history with the dealer. Makes sense......

I have ordered mine gts here in Vancouver, Canada and i was lucky enough that i got the only spot here at auto west bmw and paying msrp of course (there are many others behind me on the waitinglist just to see if the dealer is able to get a second unit). I think this car might just be the same markup as the gt3rs right now. Its crazy to see how many people want this and how little the production is.

Please just don't make shit up out of no where...
The GTS have not been allocated to the dealers in Canada yet. The very first allocations will be going to the ppl going on the European tour and the chosen participants will be notified during the 2nd week of January. After that, the dealers will get their allocations.

Direct from BMW Canada documents.
"Applicants accepted for the Tour will be allocated the requested vehicle (M2 / M4 GTS) for delivery at the BMW Welt. Due to the number of applications, we cannot guarantee a vehicle and/or spot on the tour. Confirmation for placement on the tour will be sent the week of January 11th, 2016.
Remaining M4 GTS and M2 production is allocated separately and will be communicated via separate sales bulletin. Please do not submit M4 GTS / M2 orders for those not planning on participating on the tour. Please note that any vehicles allocated for the tour are considered part of a dealers’ total M2 / M4 GTS Allocation.

There's actually a dealer near me that said they have a gts allocation and they're willing to sell for 5k over msrp and still haven't sold the car. I'm sure you can easily negotiate that to msrp.
