4CS would be the better track option. Slightly lighter and a tad more performance focused plus some exclusive cosmetic goodies not found on the 3CS. It's also a better value given 4s don't command the resale that 3s do. Not a lot between them tho, they're fundamentally the same car. If you don't care about having 4 doors, I would go with whatever you get a better deal on (likely a 4CS). My biased opinion is the 3CS is F8X perfection, but it was also the afterthought car between the 2 of them. Check out the owners thread for a rundown:

I remember some bmw sales guy was telling me the BMW sedans are generally more rigid structurally than their coupes due to the B pillar. This is at the expense of adding additional weight which you've already discovered.
I would think the differences are marginal.

M4cs is better on track. the difference is likely marginal, but it is faster due to less weight, lower cg, suspension differences.
The f80 looks alot better imo and is more rare if that matters to you. in terms of production numbers m3<m2<m4cs. i think there are half as many m3cs compared to m4cs in the states. there was only 1 year of m3cs, there are 3 years of m4cs.

I prefer 2 door and my M4CS was an extremely capable track car even with the horrible factory brakes and suspension.
The F80 is a beautiful car too but I'd never go 4 door unless I needed it. I was able to fit 4 track tires and all my track gear in the M4. |

I gotta say tho that BMW also plays a part in these misrepresentations - they’ve done it countless times with the initial F8X dry weight being marketed as actual weight, mixing weight standards when comparing M3 generations, the N55 Closed Deck fiasco on the M2, etc. My loaded F82 was 3660lbs with 3/4 tank and about a conservative estimate of 10lbs of various gear in my trunk. I expect my 3CS would be similar and scale in right where yours did.

As a reference, my 2019 M4cs with MPE, MP-HAS and 95%+ fuel weighed 3,537lb.

To answer the OP, the M4cs is the better track option performance wise, albeit by a small margin, for the following reasons:
I also found that the “lightweight” interior also enhances the driving experience from the reduced sound deadening, but that is very subjective.

Tires are already changed to falkens, and the calipers show some use (M logo worn out, track use?)

I heard the m4 is easier to fit big tires up front. Something about the f80 being a little tighter near the front door. Again probably marginal. Tbh unless you are competing with it where a tenth matters, buy what you like and is the better deal. Id 100% take a option and color combo i like over it.

Been looking for an m3 or m4cs as well and noticed this listing since I'm in Florida. Decided to pass on this one since it's also missing the front lip and it's quite pricey. As well as for the reasons mentioned above.

M3cs and M4cs are both great cars… Just picked up my M3cs in March, absolutely love the car, blown away by the performance especially considering I came from a more powerful car. I still think the M3 looks better than the M4 as I believe the proportions are better on the sedan… However there are benefits to each.
