Visit to Carbahn Autoworks for a Stage 1

Took my car in for a stage 1 tune from Carbahn today.. they’ve got some really nice cars in the shop as well as straight race cars..

The stage 1 tune is perfect.. feels like stock just more powerful and angrier. Super smooth and linear power delivery. 10/10!

My AWE switchpath order is back ordered until mid May, so as soon as I get that on there the car should be pretty perfect for me.. no more mods… maybe a dinan or eventuri intake..

Seriously thinking about doing this as well, my Istep was updated in 2020 to fix a few issues. I know I will have to bench unlock the ECU, however do you know if they completely overwrite the Istep version when flashing the ECU? I would like to keep some of the newer changes that came with the Istep update, also including some of my own coding (unrelated).

Also considering this tune, as my local tuner is exclusive with them (and I trust them immensely). Give us an update on full impressions after a few weeks if you would.

Enjoy!

I believe they don't completely overwrite. When I was asking about situations in which I should let the dealer write software, he said don't let them overwrite unless I'm having an issue and the dealer deems it to be a fix, then it's ok to let them take care of it, and Carbahn can flash back if needed.

You won't regret it.
It's only been 1 day, it's raining today so haven't taken it out, but it's amazing now. It was amazing before.. didn't think I would enjoy it so much lol. Chris mentioned it would get faster after adaptions set to the tune. I've driven around 100 miles with it, maybe a full tank should be enough time.

I’ve had this tune for >30K miles and it’s been fantastic and trouble free the entire time!

Well just flashed my ECU to the Carbahn Stage 1 tune with their flash tablet. Confirmed my March 2020 software update did not lock my ECU/DME nor require a bench unlock on my 2018 M4 (built 03/17).

BTW the Carbahn Stage 1 tune was painless to install and is freaking awesome! So much more power and ZERO issues!
