The plugs in the S55 are standard style plugs ie: not long reach like on a VQ. Looks like these guys make various plug options with the integrated sensor. Keep in mind that the spark plug tube in an S55 isn't that big where you need to use slim line sockets to remove the plug and may not be enough room for the sensor wire. On top of this you would need a signal to canbus converter and the ecutek to have tables and logic to support this input.

I guess it would be cool but not sure if it would ever convert to reality as I suspect the market would be small for this.

Doesn't answer your question but the data would be cool.

It's possible to make this work, however like mentioned the space is limited and you would need to prepare a signal converter and higher cost of the whole package. Imo it would be simpler and better to have a proprietary device log combustion pressure and/or individual cylinder lambda if you wanted to go crazy. You wouldn't want to maintain this type of data acquisition for a long period of time anyways.

Understood, gentlemen.

And switching gears so that I'm clear ... the S55 has built-in both UEGO and narrowband sensors?

No need for an aftermarket UEGO setup like in the 90s and early 2000s when the AEM UEGO kit dominated the market?

You don’t need any additional hardware such as an aftermarket wide band air fuel sensor to tune on gasoline. Check with your tuner regarding spark plug changes. Many will request cooler plugs.

I’m switching to a flex fuel tune now. The need to read fuel ethanol content requires new hardware. I ordered the kit from Redlands MotorWorks that CommanderWiggen designed.

Finally up and running. Picked up the car today w/Ecutek embedded and we're right now running PETuned.com baby pump gas tune base map. Alex Roy is the tuner and owner of Performance Eurowerks

I drove the car around town this evening for exactly 69 miles and did not exceed 85mph just to get a feel for how it behaves (if any different) in normal driving conditions as well as the DCT flash to trans & differential. Boring, yes I know.

Initial thoughts, car drives really well. I would say is a little smoother than stock. Can feel more torque and pick up within the low rpm range.

Homework now is to start data logging as the initial steps towards building my custom calibration/tune. Dyno, adjust, if pump gas is good then move onto ethanol, data log, adjust, dyno, adjust, repeat, etc. etc.

Think I'll enjoy the process and come away with a better appreciation for the skill required to custom tune high performance cars. Will be interesting to see where her mean best torque ranges are made and how Alex will build out custom tables tailored for me, and potentially move away from base maps, doing so in a safe manner.

I've heard these Bosch ECUs are not the simplest to work with so I'll also come away with a better appreciate for what it takes to extract the most performance out of these F8x cars. Ideally doing so in a consistent, reliable, and safe way. More updates to come as I have them.

Finally got through all 11 pages lol. Geez I don't know why I didn't see this thread sooner! Truly glad ECUTEK came to our platform and I hope others see the advantages of this vs other tuning options!

I believe this will truly push our platform further for the few of us that actually want to get the most out of the s55!

Can't wait to see what ECUTEK has in store for us soon!

Car is a beast even on Stage 0.5 ... victims range from stockish R35 GTR all the way to a Harley-Davidson

Back on topic, here's a dashboard I quickly setup right away. Easy on the eyes and keeps you focused on the road

I also added a BBK + Bridgestone RE-71rs also help harness the power and better control it as well. Particularly during the summer, where these tires get stickier as the temperature rises.

Also beginning to think my fuel pump might be going bad and will be using Ecutek's requested vs actual parameters to data log and test.

I believe over 30 datalogs and CSV files under different driving conditions and parameters pulled have been sent over to Alex Roy, my tuner, thus far. About to begin adjustments away from stage 0.5 base map. Ive logged everything from Lambda to fuel temp to individual 1-6 injector quantity cycle. And everything in between.

Notice there's only bank 1 parameters available, is that right? Also the Bluetooth adapter disconnects often. Anyone else experienced this? Ecutek UK tech support said the MKV Supra guys also experiencing the same issue. :

Car feels good. I spun in 3rd to 4th with RE-71Rs on 85F with IATs approaching above 100F+ ... noticed that with the stock intercooler, I was able to best achieve 11F above ambient temp for IATs. Is that good or bad relative to you guys?

I also noticed my intercooler is luke warm and midly cool to the touch right after a hot run if Redline's Water Wetter was mixed into the Intercooler reservoir along with the main reservoir housing. Seen coolant temps drop to as low as 170-180F on 85F+ days with this mixed in.

tomlong upload one of your logs to datazap.me to share. I'll attempt to replicate the conditions with my car and log with the same parameters.

I haven't had any issues with the bluetooth adapter. I've used this type of adapter on BRZ and M3. Did you update it to current firmware versions? Worst case, you can alway plug it in to a laptop and log that way.

With the purchase of racerom. Can you tune the car yourself?

Unfortunately no. You would need to become an Ecutek tuner and buy the BMW suite first. As far as I know Ecutek only offers end user tuning for the frs/Brz/gt86 and nd Miata platforms.

No, users cannot self-tune via Ecutek on the BMW platform.

Thank you kind sir. I just wanted to confirm that. Does ecutek offer this for older platforms?

I believe they offer it on the easy/cheaper platforms like the FRS/BRZ/Miata

Are they going to have any transmission tuning through ECUTEK? That would be a nice cherry on the top.

No, its not in the plans right now, which is ok since xHP is coming out with their S55 software soon

Word on the Ecutek street is that a new phase of Racerom updates is being worked on now that the B58 platform has been polished off with great success.

Also...forgot to post this earlier but I got this fancy new Injector Dynamics ID750 fuel filter installed with a flex sensor/filter bracket courtesy of Bend Calibration. They are currently the only offering with a high quality fuel filter that exceeds the Bosch required specification for their fuel system components. Hopefully this will avoid potential injector failures or other fuel system problems. Fits M2/M3/M4. I have a custom fuel line from my earlier flex sensor installation so mine is a bit different than the stock fuel line one they offer.
