Cost aside, M3/M4 owners have to literally have their motors ripped open then put back together. That alone is already a worrying part of the exercise.

You also talk about BMW engineers? That's a fail in my opinion.
It's alright ripping apart the car. It is an inline 6 . Kind of a smaller engine. But yeh thinking about drilling my crank shaft to insert crank hub is nerve wracking lol.

I don't particularly "hate" anything about our cars, but I highly dislike the engine sound at cold starts--reminds me of a rattling heat shield. The seat belt placement is also a bit inconvenient at times as I can't just reach back with my left hand. Oh, and I wish the car came with the new 360 degree camera. Aside from that, I'm enjoying my over-priced 2020 M4 ZCP with dated features and interior.

Seriously, these are all minor gripes. I haven't had a car which made me look back every time I parked it. Last one was my 1996 300ZX Turbo. This car makes me look back all the time.

I had to explain to a client from India why a manual transmission was desirable.

You can paint yours or buy OEM BMW red calipers my man. Its like $1500 IIRC for new or a couple hundred to paint yours.

#1 con - not getting it sooner.
2017 M3, ZCP, ZEC (manual, YMB).
It’s an absolute pleasure to drive daily and a constant lesson in restraint.

Biggest con about the car is that I am constantly on this forum dreaming up ways to spend more money. Mod bug is bad.

The lack of anything "Spare" bothers the heck outta me, a can of goop and sub par compressor is pretty lame.

Unless I am missing something, BMW does not sell calipers in red for F8X’s.
https://www.getbmwparts.com/c-brakes-87

Looks like painting or going aftermarket are the available options.

You are missing something, BMW sells them in read, yellow and orange.

This where I got mine:

The only thing you can't use with this kit is the front rotors. Doesn't really matter though cause all I wanted were the calipers. Everything else I just left in the boxes and figure I would sell it all when I get a new car anyways.

My only complaint is the M4CS not being offered in a Manual..... At the same time, I have realized how much fun DCT can be and have zero regrets with my purchase. I also had a 2017 Base M4 in Manual, and absolutely loved everything about it. Love love love every ///M car I've ever owned!

Biggest gripe is buying my f82 with a sunroof. Never use the thing, and the shade is always closed. Oh well hopefully the rarity of a sunroof helps the resale :

I couldn’t think of anything for the longest time, but now I have two.

1. No classic silver without spending a bunch of money on individual paint.

2. Insurance is a damn ripoff in Europe. I keep the car in storage all winter instead of driving it because the insurance bills are insane. I only insure it so I can drive to/from the track.

#1 con for me (by far) is the hands free trunk open feature. I've read about the correct kicking motion, watched instructional videos, and I swear I can get it to work every time I practice in the driveway or garage. But when it really counts, like when I'm standing in the rain with a 40lb bag of dog food in a big parking lot with everyone else watching me... absolutely nothing happens.

Then a day later when I'm washing it, the trunk opens like 4 times

So it might or might not blow up. Get the CH fix any time and go at it. Either way warranty doesn't matter if you throw a tune on it. If you think differently you're a scum bum for thinking BMW should cover your aftermarket changes under warranty.

I'm stock and love it. There's always something faster...

Throw some skinny crappy tires on it and have fun sliding all over the place at less illegal speeds. My snow tires are awesome in the snow, on cold dry roads are a blast for sliding. Rubber is caked on my rear bumper. Having at it with a stock car....

I wish the preset seat adjuster buttons were lit at night. Always have to open the door to see which one to push. And I miss blind spot monitoring on my M3 CS.
