WOAH thanks for that. my quote for a 2013 M3 was much lower with this company than Geico. Almost $100/month less Do you happen to have a VIN for a M4/M3 by any chance so I can get an exact quote??

Seems like you can't pay monthly with Wawanesa but you can make 9 payments. am I correct?

I haven't received VIN number. I don't expect to receive it 'till end of July when production of my car begins.

There are few payment options. I am not aware of 9 payments option (maybe they just added). Usually, when I get renewed insurance card, they give me choice of paying full or paying things in 2 or 3 separate payments before certain date. There is added fee (minor) for choosing separate payments, so I just pay everything in full.

I would check the M3/4 Manual thread. Someone posted one of show car VINs

Hmm for me Geico's quote ended up being cheaper than Wawanesa. Kinda surprised as I've heard good things about Wawanesa's rates...

I have no clue if this is good or bad... considering that I don't really have a credit score yet probably I have to live with it.

If I compare it to my German insurance: I'd only have to pay 2 months and that was it for the year.

I'm keen on knowing about other offers that could be interesting for someone who owns the first car in the states.
Wow, that's steep, but it all depends on your driving record and age, etc...Are you like 16 years old?

I wish I was... but it more likely relates to not having a credit score in the States and not ever before having a car registered over here. Just temporarily moved from Germany about 4 months ago.

But it's cheap in contrast to Geico... these guys actually wanted to charge $570. Per month! That actually was too much ...

I thought I would save most everyone some time finding a vin number. I just downloaded the Iphone App on my phone and entered the Vin number with success! I will be enjoying some lunch time reading checking this out.

good idea
Thanks Suave,

Apparently I can't input VIN only with wawanesa, I tried seeing what Geico would give me but I got an error message saying the Vin number contains an "I" which is an invalid character in the sequence

How'd you get a quote from Progressive?

I'm still waiting for them to email me. This is quite discouraging.. hopefully mine isn't that much of a bump in Ohio from a 135i.

Sorry, should have disclaimed, they won't permit an M4 quote but said that the 2014 m3 would be treated "very similarly" as a comparison. I haven't tried using the VIN from the carshow yet, but will be doing that shortly. Will report back!

Yikes! $570/mo?!?! Are you sure that's not every (6) months?

Not sure why rates are coming back so high for some of you, especially if your over 30 and haven't committed vehicular homicide! I'd be pi$$ed if it was more than $100/mo and I live in Atlanta.

I've got $85/mo locked ($1,000 deductible) as I should be picking up M4 soon.

I have multivehicle discount, homeowners insurance, umbrella, etc with Statefarm so perhaps that's why it seems so much lower?

Yep. It was $570/month... she told me for a yearly rate it is ~10% of the cars value for me as I didn't have insurance in the States before. I also don't have any other insurance (being an expat all that still runs through my home country).

I guess I have to call Statefarm and hope for some better rates. Liberty at least took the accident free years into consideration (somewhat of it). I'd love to go for ~$100/month, still twice as much as I have to pay at home, but I guess that's okay for getting the first

So if anybody has hints on that one (recalling how you got your first insurance)... let me know

I was quoted $450 every six months with Erie Insurance. This is my third car on the policy listed as a pleasure vehicle 10k miles a year, multi-policy discount and I have no points. Credit score also plays a factor in pricing. I am quite thrilled with price and its $100 less than my Porsche Boxster S Spyder sold for this car

Maybe try smaller companies or go into one of those car insurance offices that what i did when I first got car insurance on my own. I ended up being insured by a company called Access and it was much less than Geico, esurance, progressive and all those companies

I have Ameriprise, and currently have a 2011 535 and 2012 X3; our rate is about $120/month (both cars). I inquired for M4 (replace 535) and the rate is about the same ($2 less per month!!). There are several factors in the actuary that determines one's premium.

State Farm has the 2015 M3/M4 in their system now. I was quoted $90 more per six months than my current 2011 335is.
