For some reason I don't want Raptor, but I do want to split my M3 into Carrera and F150 platinum with V8. Platinum got thick glass and all comfort stuff

Anyway, yeah for how big and cumbersome the Raptor is, I'd want it to be amazing. I didn't think it was but maybe that's bc I was stepping into it from my M6 and just got too tied up in the hype. At least I know I'm not the only one less than blown away.
Ford is a really weird company. I haven't heard of people being denied warranty work for tracking their cars. But, I have heard of them denying and in my case prolonging warranty work for regular issues.

There is a known problem with the splitters. They ship the GT350s without them to avoid damage and then they are installed at the the dealerships. Almost everyone of them is installed incorrectly. There is a current thread about one that came off and damaged a car. Ford is denying warranty work saying it is an aftermarket part and that it is between the owner and the dealership that installed it. It's the second time I've heard of this.

Stuff like that and it seems like parts are routinely on nationwide backorder making warranty repairs take longer or multiple trips to the dealer. My rear brake pads were one of these back ordered parts.

So I know not completely analogous to the Raptor, but I'm guessing they have similar stories on their forums. One poster on the GT350 forums had a great line/point. He said it seems like GT350s are built on another planet when it comes to quality and reliability compared to the F150s. I agree with him as I've had a few F150s and all have been very solid FWIW.
Crazy. Yeah it's a shame the dealerships aren't standing behind these things. I agree it seems like the responsibility for installing the splitters should be on the dealerships, but big Ford should stand behind them, train them, and then pressure them for the customer is the dealership is not getting it right. Especially because they finally make a really really good product for enthusiasts but then act like it's the only thing on the market and charge huge premiums. the SS1LE performs the same as the GT350 or better and costs <75%. The added cool factor of the GT350 is worth a few grand more but a base GT350 should never have sold for $60-80k.. absurd. Raptor, same story. Good truck for $55-60k but $90+ is insane

I've really been thinking of this for a while now. I've never been a fan of trucks, saw them as a utility vehicle that one had if it was needed for a specific purpose. But every time I see a raptor I'm drawn to it and really love the way it looks, the creature comforts it offers and the crazy performance, completely different to the M3 of course, that it offers.

I've been looking on Turo for a rental in the area and can't find any, have checked Carmax a few times to see. I want to drive one, but I wouldn't be getting one now so I don't want to bother with a dealer and a test drive knowing I'm wasting their time.

Keep hoping the 2020 version brings back a V8, ideally a twin turbo V8 hehe.

Waste the dealers time. What do you care? Hell I bet a dealer has wasted your time at least once in you life.

I drove the F90 M5 and M760. Just wasted the vendor's time. At least it was fun for me.

On that note that M drivers seem to trade / like raptors ( I love them), but to me a raptor is basically a ///M150, the whole package and that's what makes it so appealing IMO..

You might as well buy new when it comes to a Taco vs used. You'll get a 4-5 year old model with 30-50K miles for maybe 10-15% off original pricing. They hold their pricing very well for some reason

It's almost like Jeep Wranglers.

Funny that there is a Raptor thread on here.

I just traded in my 2017 Shelby GT350 with 4700 miles on the clock for a fully loadedRuby Red Metallic 2018 Raptor CrewCab.

I freaking love it! The Shelby was incredible and I really enjoyed it. However, living in a colder climate where is rains and snows. I decided I had enough of it. Same reason I got rid of my M3's. I still have my 2018 TTRS as my fun "sports" car. It's brutally fast year round.

The Raptor is surprisingly QUICK! I am going to be ordering a JB4 for it here soon. $429 for 35WHP/55TQ on map 1 91 octane. Raced my buddies 2017 Audi S3 with a JB1 in my (for now) stock crewcab. We went from a dig (0-60) he used LC and I just brake boosted in 4A mode. He got me by 2 cars, but the initial launch (0-40) was very even. I think with the JB4 it'll be way closer.

I would definitely not own a truck as my "only vehicle", but wow... this truck really is awesome. Very different experience driving a big ole bruiser down the road. Car is very WIDE and has a mean street presence! The turbo whistle sounds fantastic and the exhaust note is...well, it's okay. Not a 5.2L Voodoo, but it's still not terrible.

I am really enjoying it! Can't wait to do some fun trips in this thing. Also insurance is WAY cheaper on the Raptor compared to the GT350 haha.

That's not 100 percent true, you aren't far off, but they actually are moving on the numbers for these trucks now the competition has stepped it up

True dat!
Just got mine. Feels very at home in its surrounding. Still breaking it in, but I've taken it on some light trails and it's amazing.

Well, I said I would do it, and I just did. Paid MSRP, clean cash deal, in SoCal, which is a good deal out here. I love it. Perfect complement to the M3. I'm going to put the M3 in the garage for a while and enjoy floating over the LA potholes, swales, and dips that scrape the lip of the M3. It's such a commanding presence that people really stay out of your way. Totally different dynamic than with the little M3.

go with a really aggressive 911 variant or an all out track car.

Dedicated sports car + tow vehicle / family hauler is ideal, if you have the garage space, in my opinion.

It helps when it’s a spare car.
This is exactly what happened to me almost two years ago! This time I shopped it out of state, found one, secured an MSRP commitment, and then went to a local SoCal dealer and informed them of the one and only way they could sell me a raptor. They took the deal.
