I have a 2015 M4 with 33K miles and have:

*ZERO interior / exterior rattles
*A manual transmission
*Black Sapphire Metallic paint that you want to hate but just cannot - because BSM
*An always open (unplugged) super loud exhaust that is one of the primary reasons I bought this beast
*Xenon lights with those perfect halos
*Terrific M brakes with all that crappy brake dust that over the years we all forgive BMW for
*No ragerts for getting the M4 over the M3 despite having two young kids because they love dad's race car

I, uhh, can't think of anything to hate on this beast! I mean, if I was held at gunpoint and had to choose one thing I guess it would be that it like everything else will eventually age. I want this love affair to continue forever!

I regret not getting PPF/Xpel/something and those mudflaps from Tommy. The side skirt / rockers are just blasted to hell to point I probably need a respray or a lot of color chip work.
Active sound is silly. Assuming santa got me the bits to do some coding, that will be disabled soon.

Having to press the M1 Button every time on start up. I wish there was a way to permanently set it to M1. All my settings are set to full beast mode and I never ever use "efficiency" mode or anything of that sort, that is what my minivan is for

No regrets but one thing I'd like to be able to change? Default of DCC with engine to efficient, suspension to sport, and steering to comfort.

Another thought - the ZCP seats lack lumbar and thigh adjustment - our F31 wagon with M package had better seats.

That driving at 130 mph has become the rule rather than the exception. Too damn easy to triple the speed limit (closed private roads).

Trying to reach the seatbelt, on the M4 coupe,, I about break my arm to reach it.
Had a 640I coupe and it was easy...

Maybe it’s just me!

- not being able to set default M drive settings.
- not having auto rev match as a separate selection under any mode.
- no being able to separately enable/disable burbles.
- at times spotty or incomplete BT connectivity with phone.

Took for granted the ease of getting in and out of a CUV.

Seatbelt farther away than I'd like.

666s are a God damn pain in the ass to clean. I give up and just half-ass clean them nowadays.

As the driver you will likely not mind, but this can get grating as a passenger.
You can thank the 20" wheels that BMW put on the car for that. While liked for their look (by some), they really messed up what could have been the best last years of the current gen M3/M4. Not one review thought they helped the car in any meaningful way and even the Performance Center does not use them.

It's safe to say i have one of the most modded F8x performance wise. The only things i dislike about the car in the performance aspect that comes to mind right now is that the car rides like chit going over bumps and the DCT is jerky.

However, i fixed all of this with a custom tune, Ohlins R&T and a bunch of SPL mods. I should've done the Ohlins as my first mod and not one of my last. It is my favorite mod.

The other thing i hate just about the car is that there is no front camera and the seatbelts are a bit hard to reach back for. I like how my S-class has an arm that extends out for you to grab your seatbelt. It is VERY convenient. I also don't like how the paddle shifters are stationary like some other performance cars. They are attached to the steering wheel itself instead which makes it a bit hard to shift sometimes.. first world problems lol

Lastly.. i hate how out of all of the custom steering wheels and even the ones that BMW offer do not have the heated function option. If somebody makes one that is compatible with alcantara, i will give you a deposit now

Merry Christmas!

The 360 camera is shit on it, and I don't like how the DCT works. I feel like when driving normally, any time you floor it a bit to pass someone it expects that you will be accelerating to 300kph and just keeps it in low gears for too long after you finish passing.

I love everything about my 2016 M4 but my biggest regret was not opting for the Competition Package. ZCP was offered the same month that I ordered my car, after I placed the order, and I could have changed the order but I didn't know if was worth it, I didn't like the style 666 wheels (only came in silver then with no option for the black 19" style 437 wheels), I didn't want to give up the lumbar support in the seats, and I thought the seat belts were too flashy.

After the car was redelivered, I installed the M Performance Exhaust and eventually that was my second regret. Sure, it sounds great most of the time, especially in Sport or Sport+ mode, but the cold starts are obnoxiously loud, it can be really raspy, and sometimes it's just a bit too much.

Two years later we bought my wife's 2018 M3 with the Competition Package. We were able to opt for the black 19" style 437 wheels so that resolved the problem we had with the style 666 wheels. It turns out the lumbar support was a non-issue, and the seat belts are actually kind of cool. The ZCP stock exhaust has a deeper, more powerful sound without the obnoxiously loud start-up. The suspension is also more sorted out, firmer, yet more compliant over rough surfaces.

I still love my M4, but I really love my wife's M3!

P.S. Almost forgot, I was THIS CLOSE -> <- to ordering Sakhir Orange Individual contrasting stitching. But I hesitated, and the order change window closed. I regret not making my decision sooner. We got Individual Polar Blue contrasting stitching in my wife's M3.

Warming up the dct. After a cold start. Just noticed how it reacts only 6k miles driven in it. I can't get the car to whip out on corners on dry road. Rear seats have deep scratches from used car. Higher miles. Small gas tank. Crank hub is a bad story. Leather is easy to scratch. Cf roof feels dry. I want so many parts but cost too much.

I think the only thing I really hate about the car is the stupid reverse beep, other than that its just about the perfect daily. Maybe the stock ride height also, installed MP HAS within 2 weeks of owning the car.

So the title asks what is the #1 con or regret about your car. Then it asks what owners hate about their cars.

So instead of being a thread about regrets that you have about your car ("Should have ordered the Competition Package", "Regret that I ordered white, gray, or black when I could have had an actual color"), things that you most likely had control of, instead, this thread has turned into a gripe fest about all the things that people hate about their car but can't do anything about ("I hate the backup beep", "I hate that I have to reach for my seat belt", "the 5 Series has ventilated seats, I want ventilated seats", "I have to press the M1 button to change from the default setup").

What a bunch of whiners! It seems like some people just ordered the wrong car...

I regret not ordering mine! My dealer told me they were stopping production early (he was wrong) and I should take the Mineral White completely loaded M3 I found (was not even at his dealer) because ordering a Tanzanite Blue M3 with SUNROOF, was not going to be possible.

Focker.

I don't hate the mineral white and I really do like this car - but I wish it was specd in the color I wanted without that rattling rear sunshade and a sunroof.
