Having never owned a BMW coupe before getting my M4, I never had the expectation of that seatbelt arm extender.
Sit in the driver's seat. Reach back with the left arm and grab the belt...

I then gave my friend a ride, who currently owns an E92 328i coupe, and she was sitting in the passenger seat with a look like, "OK, So how do I get my seat belt!?!"

My response: "Um, how about reaching back like most humans and grabbing it?..."

I've since seen her E92's seatbelt arm extender. Coolness Factor? Sure. But something that I see as just another item to get broken -- Oh and added weight of course...

This has been our experience with my wife's 335is Coupe that we've had for almost five years. It works so reliably that we're always surprised when it doesn't.

I've driven/ridden in M3/M4s a few dozen times now and I always wait for the seatbelt to be delivered and of course it never happens . It's going to take some getting used when I get my M4. I'm used to reaching for the seatbelt in my Z4 M Roadster, but it's closer, and of course the body style is so dissimilar that I never get confused.

My 73yo dad always appreciates the arm in my 435. I took him along to test drive an M4 the other day and he was waiting for it to pop out.

I didn't dislike it, but I didn't particularly like it either. It was just something that I saw as a potential future [annoying] issue if it ever got stuck partially/fully extended.

I had a 428i loaner recently with the arm.. I found it entirely odd, being stabbed in the arm by that thing every time I got in the car.

How was it hitting your arm? Are you super tall (seat pushed back) with big muscular shoulders?

I've never had a problem with mine. Maybe 5x or less in 3 years of having my car has it gotten stuck and I did have to have the arm replaced on my last car because the spring was broken, but overall its otherwise been pretty much flawless. I think I can manage without the arm for all the other goodness of the M though.

Ah, you've got 6" on me at 5'7". If I was sitting that far back I probably wouldn't mind reaching back for the seat belt.

It's weight reduction, just like why they don't have soft close doors or electric trunk. It would have been nice though because my seatbelt gets folded and then sucked up into the pillar and its a PITA to pull it out again.

I miss it, I injured my hand recently and found myself wishing that it had the extender arm like the old 3-series coupe.

I fully agree, i think I need physio because if the rotation and twisting one has to do to reach it. Albeit the seat belt holder helps a bit. Posting a pic in case some didn't notice it.

I must be stupid but I couldn't figure out that seat belt holder. That area of my seat is smooth with no clips.

Hmmm, strange, here's a pic, it's just a slit/opening where you kinda rest the F82's seat belt.

I assume with that though that you have to place the seatbelt back into it? I am used to just taking my seatbelt off and letting it flop back.

The seat belt should fall right into that clip unless you deliberately choose otherwise. I have found that on my Silverstone seats, the seat belt will make the seat dirty in that spot, so I make sure that the belt surpasses the clip and just hangs.
