Is this 2015 f80 M3 with undercarriage damage worth repairing?
Found this M3 at my local salvage yard. It has undercarriage damage concentrated at the driver side front. From what i can see the subframe looks like it needs to be replaced and most of the driver side front suspension. Anyone know how much it would cost to vet this car in driving shape and is it even worth saving.

Subframe is under $1k brand new, used probably around $500-600 but it only needs to be replaced if the lower control arm mounting point is twisted, from pics it might be ok. You need 2 control arms, about $400-450 brand new, a tie rod (maybe $200?) and probably a strut and knuckle and bearing just to be safe. Also front and rear wheel and tire. rear suspension also took a hit, most likely its the main lower control arm, trailing arm, and wheel hub, knuckle and bearing should be replaced to be sure nothing is bent.
You will also need front fender liners ($200-250?) and you can do body work to fender and bumper or swap them out. Oh Headlight bracket also looks bent and headlight might have a few broken tabs. Its an easy fix if your mechanically inclined and have the tools and connections. Otherwise you will pay the junkyard more then they purchased it for from auction, and then pay list prices for new parts and higher shop rates to get everything installed and that doesn't make sense. |
