Spun Crank Hub :(

Hey guys, so it happened to me.

2015 M4 DCT with custom e85 tune.

The car is in the shop now for repairs.

I'm wondering what everyone's opinion is on the best fix. MaxPSI?

Is the chance of spinning it again increased after it has been repaired using stock parts? Did BMW release new parts that may reduce the chances of it happening again?

Basically I'm either going to sell the car or install a permanent fix, just trying to decide what's best since I'd really like to keep the car, but don't really like the idea of spending 4-5k for a crank hub fix unless I'm positive it will prevent this from happening in the future and not create any new issues.

Look for aftermarket hubs. I have seen one a while back with good reviews. slightly different design than the stock.

SSR now makes the MaxPSI crank hub. Probably the best one to go with.

Why would you even post this?

That seems to be the consensus.

I'd really like to keep the car, and if a crank hub fix removes the time bomb fuse, that may be the route I go.

Really interested to hear if anyone has spun a crank hub a second time after it was repaired. I remember reading that BMW may have released some updated parts like a new friction disc or something like that.

haha, my thoughts as well but I appreciate any feedback. I've read almost the entire crank hub master thread, but there is so much info, and much of it is now outdated.

It seems that way. I'd almost recommend a crank hub fix before anyone goes e85.

Yeah, why guys still go e85 without a crank hub fix at this point is beyond me.

OP I'm definitely sorry for your issue, but if you plan to stay E85 I would definitely go with a crank hub fix.

Any specifics about when it occurred? During a down shift/upshift? Launched? It seems that most have occurred during a downshift.

I had downshifted pretty aggressively shortly before a pull so it seems in line with the other reports of downshifts contributing to the issue.

Vtt v2 spline lock crank hub and crank bolt capture kit for complete fix. This is the route I went and it has held up fine to lots of abuse on e85/meth at 700whp

You should avoid vtt for now. other people sell the cbc too. But the cbc is some thing u should install. Go with a insane crank hub. It's cheaper than the rest. But there are better crank hubs out there.
