What tool did you use to remove the trim piece where the metal tab goes? I'm trying not to mar the trim piece.

How did you screw the Schoshe into the Kuda? Was there a screw provided by Schoshe? If not, what kind of screw did you use? Did you drill a pilot hole?

Thanks.

I got a trim removal kit from Amazon. They are made of plastic as to minimalist damage to your interior. You can also get them at pep boys.

Sorry for the delayed reply. I also used a plastic trim removal tool to pry the trim away - flathead screwdriver with double layer of microfiber cloth works as well. To mount the scoche i pulled off the rubber cover, mounted it where i wanted with the applied double sided tape, then drilled a pilot hole right down the center hole of the metal plate and placed a small wood screw. The head of the screw sits lower than the tops of the magnets.

Also I recommend that you number the magnets 1-4 with a sharpie after removing the cover and before mounting. They are set up with 2 in one direction and 2 with opposite poles...in case they move you know where to put them back. I have this same setup in 3 of my cars and found this numbering system helpful!

Appreciate the reply. I followed your instructions and did the install. Thanks.

I'll add a couple of small things to the install instructions. 1) I used a flat head wood screw so that the head stood up less than a rounded head wood screw. 2) When I drilled the pilot hole in the center (through the plastic connection), I ended up needing to trim away the remaining parts of the plastic connection so that the head of the screw would sit as flush as possible to the metal plate.

My last comment is about the Kuda Mounting base. It is a quality base, but as others have reported (on Better Business Bureau, Google, here) the company in the US distributing makes you nervous. When I purchased a couple of weeks ago their website was crippling slow, their SSL certification was broken, calling their number got you to a European ring tone, the web order form was partially broken. I thought it was 50/50 at best that I'd get the right product sent to me. But, it turned out alright. I think they are really shooting themselves in the foot by how they are running the US distributor.

I've been buying their mounts for almost ten years. I always got the right products!

The cup holder phone mount is the most stable one you can get but occupies a lot of space. Any air vent phone mounts are shaky from my experiences

I've seen an ipad mini and some similar windows/android based tablets. The pics I've seen they've mounted in front of the center vents. Not sure on the actual mounting solution though.

The kuda and proclip solutions are much more stable and don't eat up a cup holder.

I do not suggest this mount to anyone. I just went through my second in the last 7 months. It never seems to stay seated in the cup holder, which requires you to re tighten often, and the slightest bit of "over tension" and it snaps; rendering it useless.

Back to looking for another solution.....

This looks slick, but pricey for what it is.

Hi, so how did the Kuda installation go, where do you pry open the trim? does anything get broken or damaged? are there any clips or does it just pull of and then goes back to its original position without much force?

I have one on order, and would love to see the exact place and piece of trim that needs prying.
Is it the piece on top, or the piece on the side that gets pried?
Can anyone post a pic with an arrow?

Thanks

Odered one, it s complete crap, cheap 3D print not worth 5$, plus it s tii big and does not fit in cup holder. The lightning connector does not hold and pushed out every time you put phone in. Got a refund and now in recycling bin

Based on feedback in this thread, I picked up a vent mount for my decommissioned iPhone 6 and made it a dedicated device for the V1Driver app.

Looks like the KUDA site is back up and running. Couldn't recommend it more:

I'm liking the new one at the bottom of their page too. Keeps the phone higher.
