Is the M4 really the perfect daily?

I'd say the M3 is better if you can fit in the door jams, holy hell they're narrow. I couldn't do it so I had to give up those hips for the M4.

Absolutely. I bought a car I love driving, that is reliable enough to be driven daily (in other words, not an Alfa...).

If you're concerned about practicality you might consider an M3, but my F83 is driven every day, and is also the road trip car when it's just me and my wife.

I put 15k miles a year on mine, manual. I do maintenance and that's it. Nothing has ever broken on it or gone bad, 2015 with 58k miles on it. Twisties, highway, traffic, all of it.

It's comfy, very fast, gets great gas, I love it and have thought of getting rid of it but can't come up with anything that doesn't involve me getting two cars. That's how good it is

I used to daily an Elise so the M3 is like a 7 series! In all seriousness I think the F80 is very versatile and the four doors are a very convenient if you have kids or passengers regularly.

I would only criticize that it may feel a little small inside for bigger folks (a colleague of mine is 6'4" and probably 230lbs and looked a little uncomfortable). And if you want noise insulation you won't get that. I don't know why people spend so much on upgrading sound systems when the main problem is the outside noise...

Yes to me it is the perfect daily car. Fast enough, good looking(I still get compliments after almost 5 years),decent gas mileage for what it is, extremely reliable, enough room for 4, a decent sized trunk with fold down rear seats. I have 75k miles and nothing else compares for me. What is perfect for one person may not be for others. Drive what you like!

I don't really daily mine, I have 2 other cars. I drive a Wrangler daily, actually come to think about it...none of my cars are the "perfect daily". But I enjoy each of them and wouldn't trade any in for a "perfect daily". However, I'm currently looking for a pickup truck which I might turn into my new daily and will work great for road trips, home depot runs and towing.

I wish I could drive mine daily. But I'm so anal about keeping it clean that I tend to keep it garaged on days I know it's going to rain it's arse off LOL.

For me, personally, I've never driven a more "perfect for me" car. Performance, handling, looks... it's got it all.

It's a good daily driver. I live in a place where winter happens so I choose to drive an X2 with winter tires in winter. I know you can drive the M4 in the winter with winter tires, but I choose not to. It's not perfect for me. If I lived in a place where snow did not occur, I'd drive the M4 exclusively.

Also, if I lived in NYC, I wouldn't drive an M4. I don't take mine to the city. The roads in the 5 boroughs are horrible.

I have had both M4 and M3 and I find the 3 far easier to drive daily. The smaller doors make a huge difference when parking.

Except if its a convertible. I am still adjusting to the diffference in the trunk from my 135i to the M4. If top isn't being used then the trunk is great, if using the top the trunk space and access to whats in the trunk is horrible. Worst car I have owned for going to BJ's, Home Depot, etc lol

My M4 is a good daily driver for me. It has to be. It's the only car I have. My only other vehicle is my 2015 Honda Gold Wing motorcycle.

I don't like my ZCP M3 as a daily. It's too harsh, transmission is jerky in stop-and-go, there's no adaptive cruise or traffic assist feature or massaging seats like in my wife's new Q7, which is much better (yes, I've gotten old and soft at 33). I find myself wishing I had something more comfortable as I'm sitting in traffic, it feels like such a waste to have all this performance not getting used. Ideal next car: M550i, S6, CLS53 or E53. More comfort, still fun.

I bought this car because I had so many great memories of my E46 M3. But that was before kids and I could often take it to the mountains and go on aggressive drives. With two kids under the age of 3, life has changed. I still love sports cars, but there's little time to use my M3 properly. And I bought this car in 2017, right before kids.

It can do fine as a DD, it just isn't the best option unless you can really use it to its full potential when not commuting.

Too many definitions of perfect for ones uses and regions etc. But no, my M4 is not the perfect daily for me. Of my fleet the SCrew F-150 is and would be the one car to keep of our current vehicle lineup for our all season/family needs.

I've had a F82 ///M4 for two years and currently own a F80 ///M3 CS

They are the perfect all around cars: daily, track, aesthetics, etc.

I daily('ed) both of them; I think the ///M3 is better b/c of the four doors (depends if you have kids, passengers, etc.), but in terms of looks, it's up to the individual.

What is perfect to one person, is trash to another.

I drove a 350z for 13 years. To me, the M3 is a luxury car in comparison.

For someone who is used to driving a SUV, the M3/M4 will be stiff, loud, and a bit quirky (with the DCT)

That being said, the car is specifically designed to be the best compromise between a comfy daily commuter and an all out race car.

If you want the best of both worlds, the M3/M4 is going to be one of the top options.
