Can you post pics of your setup? I have a F82 and live in California so I'm pondering the same dilemma as you guys.

I don't have much pics. Here's two pics of my car with it installed. Cut about and inch high and just wide enough for the plate to slide in the grill. Easy job. Looks great. Best of both worlds. I love it

With my last one while I pulled over almost monthly, I didn't get my first ticket for no front license plate for 2 years. Pain in the ass, have to go to court in NYS.

Do the other NY drivers care to opine?

Thanks
I have Sho n Go installed on my f80 in Rockland NY. Where are you I'd be happy to show you how it works/looks?

I grew up in Rockland, live up by Saratoga now. Since this is a lease, I'm going to leave it sans front plate for now. As soon as I meet that first NYS Trooper with a penchant for buggery I'll get that installed!

No issues at high speed with that Sho N Go?

Thanks!

That's awesome! Any idea how much that would cost (including installation)? I live in NJ and am required to have a front plate.

Also, I'm leasing my car...am I allowed to add something like this to a leased car?

I know the kit costs $150 not sure about installation. I'm probably going to do myself because it should take long. I'm sure it's fine on a leased car.

You're allowed to do it, but you're going to have to cut into that lower mesh that you see in the video. Its not a big deal and if you or the installer is handy it is virtually unnoticeable, but you're still cutting one of the factory pieces and altering the car. Worst case scenario would be that BMW makes you buy a new mesh piece for the car and take the plate mount off upon return of the lease.

No issues yet at all, and I've had it out at over 100. Because I don't want any rub/scratches on the front I'm going to have a clear bra put on the bumper so there won't ever be an issue. I wanted to do it anyway so I figured its a good time.

This. Ran 6+ years with my E92 and 67k miles. Got 1 ticket while parked. Lets just call that a no front plate tax.

The magnetic plate solution could still work if you could get a piece of steel or a strong magnet attached to the back of the bumper cover. This would obviously be easier on some models than it would on others. Looking at the F80 just now it seems kind of involved. Looks easier on the F15 X5 for obvious reasons. I ran a magnet over both bumpers "front and center" and there is no metal behind there close enough to work.

Anyone been into the bumper cover enough to know how hard it would be to slip something behind there? I don't feel like paying $150 to avoid a $75 fine and I'm not screwing into the bumper or using a tow hook plate. Magnet option sounds awesome.

I didn't have one on in Nassau country for about 6 months, passed tons of cops, was pulled over once and just talked my way out of it.

Guy actually said he didn't see it in my windshield, almost implying that it was ok there? Even tho any cop will tell you its on the front bumper or nothing.

No front plate on any car for 11 years. Got one ticket 10 yrs ago at one of those road side checks for inspection stickers. Got warning a year ago. I'm sorry but performance cars look like crap with the plate.

I got the carbonio mount on my F80, which goes onto the grill (no drill at all) and it works well. However, if in NY, not sure how it would hold up if someone bumps you while parallel parked.

Here is the link:

It truly hurts me to have the front plate mounted but getting pulled over or getting a parking ticket hurts more. I put an L bracket from Home Depot because I didn't want to drill into the bumper. The tow hook has been my go-to for years but it doesn't look right on this car so biased.

I had the Sto and Sho and after 1.5 years and 25k Miles, it was a bit bent, probably from someone bumping into it while I was parked. I replaced it with a new model and one day came out and it was gone. I assume it just fell off somewhere along the way. I just left it off at that point. It's been about 2 months now. No tickets. I'm in NY with most driving in Westchester.
