K&N vs BMC air filters

I know this has been discussed in the past but now that there's plenty of feedback available....

Any reason for going with one over the other? Price not being an issue....

Also are they worth it? Thanks!

One or the other take the less expensive, you will never ever feel the difference between both

I personally chose the afe pro dry s because it's oil free and it won't ruin my maf because of the oil, they are also washable so they will last forever just like the bmc or k&n

BMC are simply better built - much better wicking/bleed. Look at them side-by-side and you'll instantly see the difference in quality.

Thank you! Would you say they're worth the buy to use over the OEM?

Absolutely. BMC/Stock airboxes will provide same gains as any fancy intake being marketed out there.

Don't waste the money on the absurdly priced intakes. Get the BMC filters and be done with it.

I ran K&N for 5K miles with zero issues

I now run Dinan and also no issues

Also no difference in performance...or rather - you don't notice any difference at all with these intakes

I ran a Green filter and then K&N in one car. No difference between the 2. Pretty much same build and filter medium. Been using K&N for a long time for my other 2 cars and no complaints. Just bought K&N for F80 last night.

BMC is oiled also and the PIA with all these filters is the cleaning and oiling process. You have to be patient and repeat the steps a few times to get it right.

Looks like BMC is made in Italy, so there's that.

U got me. I have not checked for F80 but for motorcycles they often have multiple models called Road, Race, etc these are of different thickness and provide more airflow or less as well as more garbage in or less. Thus power vs quality of filtering, so I was interested in what people run in their cars. If there is only one model, I get it.

I have been running K&N for about 2 weeks and i love them. The install allowed me to finally get down and dirty with my car and understand all of the components of the engine bay and intake. Also i removed the charcoal filters for a ver very slight increase in turbo noise. But overall, the car does feel like it is breathing better for sure.

Yep. I bought a pair of K&N and had to order a second pair because one of the filters in the first set looked bad. Not bad, but the front pleat was covered in rubber and the last pleat was all out of wack. Keeping the best pair and returning the other.

Just installed mine today. Was easy. Can you believe the hardest part was getting those dumb plastic pop pins or whatever they are off the ends of the plastic rear covers. I hate those things. Will drive tomorrow if it doesn't rain.

Last week i did baseline dyno stock. Only mods are catch cans and HRE R101LW wheels. Pulled 438whp. I'll go back after like 500miles and do more pulls.
