Easy buy in this range for the best performing street + track, all-round M3/M4 to hit U.S. shores before design meltdown.
Youre right that you can get a M4 CS in the high $60Ks. 2 of 29 on Cars.com are in the 60s. My experience is with M3 CS, which command a higher price.

I only see one M3 CS on Cars.com and it's asking $85K. And many of the cars listed on other sites as CS are not. I just looked at CarGurus and there are 147 cars listed as M3 CS with asking prices from $46,998 to $98,000. When I sorted by lowest asking price first, the first 120 listings were civic M3s or Competition Package models. The lowest priced M3 CS is $73,985 and the highest priced is $98,000.

I am in the M3 CS owners group on Facebook and posted an open offer to buy cars with a budget of $70K. I was thoroughly criticized for, in their eyes, lowballing them. Strong belief among CS owners that the cars are now only available in the $60Ks with bad titles, accident histories, high mileage or excessive wear. CarMax sells them for mid $80Ks.

So like I said earlier I think the M3/M4 CS is a great car and a buy if you can find a good example for $65K or less. But for $80K I would rather have a new M3 or a Porsche Cayman GTS.

Love listening to the dct upshifts under gradual acceleration on the C8's. NA V8 + snapping upshifts at lower rpms. Unmistakable high performance sounds very similar to E9X.
I’ve decided I need an E9X. At the expense of the F82? When I’m not in the F82 I rationalize ways to trade it but every time I drive the F82 I realize how good it is and trade ideas fly out the window lol. Pretty much I’ll have to own both… now I just gotta find a chick who is either into cars or can get into them so I can justify owning both (his/hers) lol. Also need to wait for E9X prices to come down from crazy town

Actually, owners have a point. Clicked into some listings, CS crash rate appears to be about 20%

Mid-70's list for a clean F82 and recent price trend downward. Low 70's, maybe upper 60's achievable with the right dealer. Market isn't 80's on an F82. F80 different story, no supply.

Understand 65 as a cutoff point if open to beavers, but doubt F80 CS will get there anytime soon.

You're onto something, E9X is the car to get chicks into cars.

My wife, not previously into cars, went from daily driving our E9X on occasion, to doing so daily, to yelling at me when I swapped back to stock exhaust from full Akra. In her elegant words, "why did you make my car a little bitchmobile?"

So interesting twist. The 2017 Cayman S in Palm Springs has not sold yet. (I saw it was still on their site days later so I created a new email address and name and reached out to a new salesperson to ask about availability.) The dealership was just tired of negotiating with me. So I guess that option has returned, if I'm willing to pay their asking price (which is fair for the current market conditions).

With the benefit of more knowledge on what to look for I also noticed this "one owner" car is actually a PCNA executive car that was used by PCNA for 18 months and 7K miles before being leased and titled. I don't think that's necessarily a negative as I've read that people have good experiences with PCNA cars (and you get free PPF on the front end).

E9X weekend/track car with F8X daily could be a pretty fun combo, not to mention despite the two cars having the same badge (well, I guess not in the M4's case, but you get the point), they offer two very different and unique experiences behind the wheel. E9X prices sure are crazy though, they were going up even before the shortage.

E9X track car and X5 daily would be a better combination.

Make sure you put a tow hook on the E9x too in case the X5 breaks down...

Heck yeah, that's the most bad-ass tow rig combo I've seen since 1930s Bentley Blowers towing all kinds of race cars a couple years back.

in the same boat. i think about the v8 sounds from an e92 and how much more fun it is just cruising around town than the f80. But then i drive the f80 hard on a back road and i dont wanna sell it lol.

then i check e92 comp prices and its tough to justify selling my f80 for an older generation m3 with more miles, less tech, less reliability, for the same money.

As long as you don't care for driving assistants and HUD, E9x has got about the same level of tech as F3x. With the optional Individual Audio being better than H/K.

CIC iDrive w/ Combox is still usable these days, though an OEM NBT retrofit would go a long way and so would a headlight upgrade with better projectors and D1S bulbs. That's about it really, I think.

Stumbled upon a used G82 6MT at Autohaus Porsche today, must have traded in on something nice. Apparently the car has been there for two months since the start of June, most likely sitting due to the current market pricing of used cars which has it priced at MSRP despite having 2,000+ miles ($81,000).

They also had this gorgeous Tango Red RS6.

And I got another look at an E-Tron GT, this time in Tango Red, and I have to say the car keeps disappointing me. Audi, like BMW, also seems to have a grill problem. Surprisingly, the car looks better in photos/videos than it does in person. Online it looked much sharper and smaller, whereas in person the creases are not as hard or soft as they appear, the rear end is very chunky with large taillights, and the car overall looks large and contrasts the small greenhouse of the car. The front is the worst aspect, as there is no body-matching grill option in the US meaning you get a gray or all black front end which looks like a huge car bra. After viewing a E-Tron GT and Taycan back to back, I think the Taycan with its sweet curves and beautiful rear end is a much better design. Not to mention this Audi is priced like a Porsche at $120,000.

It looks pretty good in those photos, so i guess that proves your point about it looking too good in photos.

But i agree, the Taycan is the real deal, and it drives like a Porsche (albeit only for 180 miles )

There's just something off in person, its hard to describe I'm not sure. Maybe I'll change my opinion when I see a better spec'd RS model, but at the moment I'm team Taycan lol.

Wow.. I've never been able to shake a salesperson once I show interest in a car. Maybe that's a sign that the price is right? Go for it!

Less tech? V8 and MPE plus iPhone stuck to dash is all that is required 🤣

That’s actually my plan LOL. I figure when I find a lady-friend, I’ll try to get her into driving with the F82, then in a couple years I’ll say that I love the F82 but as a compromise I’ll just go ahead and pick up an E90 so we can enjoy the drive together. Little will she know it was all part of the plan.

E9X prices sure are crazy though, they were going up even before the shortage.
I’d run both as daily / track toys tbh. I have this crazy idea to grab a E90 at some point and do a full “restomod” on it. Engine/trans refresh, exterior refresh, and interior re-trim. Thinking a CS-esque interior with 4 buckets (inspired by the F90 CS). I personally don’t mind looking for a 100k mile base car given what is plan to do with it. It’s more of a 5 year plan, so I’m pretty content to sit and wait until prices come back down to earth.

then i check e92 comp prices and its tough to justify selling my f80 for an older generation m3 with more miles, less tech, less reliability, for the same money.
Yeah I’ve just been avoiding but continuously running into the realization that F8X and E9X are a perfect pairing… if you only had one you’d sorely miss the other

The market is different right now. Salesmen are just waiting to write purchase orders. Very few I have spoken with are willing to negotiate. (I can get 11-12% off BMWs in normal times and I got 4% off a G80 M3 so I know how to play the game.)

These are not normal times. Good luck!
