OP, you didn’t mention whether or not you use a turn signal when slowing down like this to make a turn. Surely you are. Right?

Yea I ran out of blinker fluid. I've been using hand signals as I turn.

Maybe it’s a state by state thing and some don’t, hence the horn blares when holding up traffic to crawl through a turn.

In India your hand attached to the horn at birth but they really dont have many rules on the road.

Oh my god dude, I thought growing up in NY and occasionally having to navigate through that awful traffic would prepare me for similar situations elsewhere, but I recently went to Manila, and I'd have a nervous breakdown driving there. It's insane.

On a related note, there's one intersection on my commute that has a nice dip in it that I have to take extra slow, usually the person behind me is up my ass, so when I clear it, I gun it a bit to get them off my ass.

I use signals and everything, but some people are just so impatient.......it's not a matter of being too low, I just don't want to scrape and the people behind don't understand the concept. It is what it is but I just wanted to see if people were running into the same issue.......like I said I'm not going to take a turn into a parking lot with the speed of traffic.

Sum ppl don't understand. It's like ur trying to make a right to make a left but traffic is blocking u from making a left. The driver behind u is jus making a right n going straight.
Just driver point of view.
Sometimes u gotta adjust so ur car can move a little faster. Unless ur willing to cause a little bit of traffic.

I understand that some drivers don't understand wtf you're doing but I just wanted to see if people have had this happening to them. The honks, the almost rear ends, etc.....I'm not gonna take a turn into a parking lot knowing damn well I'm gonna scrape unless I drive slow and at a angle.
That is a NY thing.

OP I think your frustration is misplaced here. There is a reasonable expectation that someone will make a turn at a normal speed. If you slow down an abnormal amount (which you admit to doing) it will likely catch the person behind you off-guard and create a dangerous situation.

If I am behind someone and I see their right turn signal come on, I expect them to slow down to a reasonable speed and then make their turn. But if the person nearly grinds to a halt, lingering in the lane they are turning from, I wouldnt expect that and would need to hit my brakes harder and would probably end up closer to the vehicle than I would like. I may honk to let the person know of their dangerous move.

If your car is that low where you scrape easily then I suggest either raising it up so you dont have that issue or live with the fact that you will get honked at and perhaps even rear-ended at some point if the driver behind you isnt paying close attention.

Not sure where you live, but it's hilly as hell here. You definitely don't have to be lowered to tear your front up.
