M3/M4 CS owners - Impressions?

Seems like a lot of new owners (including me)

First impressions? I love mine but haven't had the chance to really play - damn cold and rain....

I've had mine for 4 days now . . . It's been so cold here and I've been busy with work that I haven't even turned it on to hear it (Got delivered home and wife put it in the garage). I don't think anyone can beat that lol.

Still driving my old M3 for now.

It's an M4cs and I've had it for four months now, so not quite first impressions; meaning I'm a bit off topic, but I truly love it. While I really enjoyed my 2015 M4 for the four years I've owned it, the CS brought back some of the soul I found was lacking in my previous car. It feels much more connected, raw and refined at the same time, these are intangibles that are difficult to describe. Plus the fact that I was able to beat my previous best track time by 1.5 seconds without even trying hard (and that's on the same tires and wheels) is the proof in the pudding .

Have to agree with this, also m4cs and 4 months in.

With the exception of I don’t track it, the CS is leaps and bounds above the CP having owned both. It’s got a connection and an emotion to it. Then there’s the power and torque. I absolutely adore it.

911 dime a dozen, unless you get a GT or turbo, and those are way more expensive. The CS is unique. CS looks better too. (I'm a Porsche guy too!) . As an aside, I brought my CS to Porsche Cars and Coffee, and none of the old guys there had any idea what the CS was. Just thought it was a regular 3 series, and were bragging about their base Caymans and Boxsters 😂😂

I’ll help here. My 2015, aka wasp in a sealed mason jar, was always trying to kill me and use to scare the crap out of my every time would step on it around corners. My new 2018, though a CP not a CS, with more refined software had made me to ah e more confidence and thus am able to better feel what I’m doing as I approach the point of letting loose.

Help on what ?

I never had that feeling from my 2015. I found it to be a real pussycat on track: very easy to tame at the limit, but still quick as hell.

Addressing the “difficulties to describe”, but in this case - mine - to the OP. My 2015 with original sw was so crazy coming out of the hole or when hitting corners with to much gas that it would to scare me. The torque curve, as I’m sure you are aware, was adjusted with newer iterations to be more affable and more confidence building for us less experienced drivers, again speaking for myself and trying to give the OP some clarity. This perspective comes from street driving but I’m sure it carries over to track as well some extent.

Ah, I see. But you replied to my post, hence my confusion.

For my part, I actually miss that (very) low end torque from my 2015. This has however no effect on track since the revs never fall in the range where they reduced the torque when on track.

But besides that, it is the exact opposite for the CS. The difference is not from the engine, it is mostly about the chassis. I find the CS to be less tame than my 2015 or the CP I have driven (on street and track), where the CS feels more raw and connected from a driver's perspective, hence more soul.

Nah, the hate is because we aren't driving with our hands glued at 9 & 3 on the wheel.

Hahaha, so ridiculous.

Glad to hear you drive like a normal person too. 9&3 is definitely needed for spirited driving. But if I'm just cruising I do whatever is most comfortable.

To be fair, on the track I'm in Sport and not Sport+. I found Sport easier to manipulate the throttle for rotation. Sport+ is way too aggressive in my 2016 non-ZCP. I'm still breaking in the CS, but I'll know in 1200 miles if it's the same way.

Did you check alignment? My ‘15 loved to oversteer and it was because it came with 0 rear toe from the factory. I added more rear toe in and then it would only oversteer if I was a ham with the throttle.

A “fix” of reducing low end torque. LOL at that. I never let dealer flash my car EVER while I owned it because of that risk.

have we confirmed if the US m3 CS has suspension setup for cup2 tires (despite not coming with those tires)?

As posted previously, both the M3cs and M4cs come with PSS in the US. PSC2 are standard in the ROW with PSS offered as a no cost option on both cars.

As far as I know, there isn't a different suspension tuning between US spec cars and ROW, be it M3cs or M4cs. However, it seems that the M3cs is more softly sprung than the M4cs since it uses base springs while the M4cs uses the CP springs.

It took me way too long to figure out what ROW meant. Is it the weekend yet?
