F80 Harness Bar / Cage

I bought a pair of Recaro profi XL seats last summer and have them setup with BK slider mounts but never ran them in the car on track since the BK harness bar never shipped.

This spring, after realizing the BK harness bar may never ship, I bought a Studio RSR bolt in rear cage which is currently mocked up in my car. I am having a hard time bringing myself to drill the required four holes in the floor to mount the main hoop.

Before I go further, is anyone running any type of harness bar in their F80 that does not require drilling?

Has anyone found a rear seat delete panel that fits the F80 and closes off the trunk from the cabin?

I have the Studio RSR cage and I ended up drilling through the floor to get it mounted. Most wouldn't want to do this, but race car right?

DinmannCF makes a rear seat delete panel. I just run mine wide open without the rear seats. It makes loading my track wheel setup much easier.

I found a new problem: Because of the seats I am mounting and the length of my torso, the shoulder harnesses would mount to the studiorsr roll bar at a 30deg downward angle, not safe...

I need to think through my seat mounts again to try and get the seat lower.

Bottom line, I didn't complete the roll bar install.

What kind of floor adapters did you use? Just curious; the various seats/mounts setups we tried showed a Sparco side mounted seat with sliders to be the tallest. We used this to place the crossbar height to yield a max 20deg harness bar angle. The bottom-mount type seats with the floor-adapter and sliders had the shortest stack heights.

Here is a pic of the laser-cut plates showing the 5/16" holes for mounting. They're not too much #becauseracecar right? haha

Check VAC Motorsports for mounts. I have them, and actually find my Recaro Pole Position seats fairly low.

This is what I have: https://store.vacmotorsports.com/vac...f82-p3207.aspx

I am using Brey Krause slider mounts which use the OEM sliders. Keep in mind I am tall and am using the Profi XL seat which is taller than normal.

I originally went with the BK direct to floor mounts but found them too low which is apparently a problem with where Recaro drills the mounts on their seats (there is ~1.5" difference between Slider and Direct to floor mounts). Something in between the two mounts would be perfect and the VAC mounts may fit the bill.

I have a set of the VaAC mounts I bought for my car that I never installed. Let me know if you’re interested.

In my experience, these are by far the best pieces. I’m selling the car, otherwise would be using them. Currently trying to get them to make a set for my new car.

BK builds a bar for the F80. I would never run something that isn't tested to DOT standards and is supposed to keep me alive in a crash

Agreed, use something designed and tested to a safety standard to restrain yourself in the car.

I was planning to use the BK F80 harness bar but this has been delayed for a long time and a new design is awaiting testing.

I spoke to them a couple days ago and they said the M2 and M3 designs were complete

I had Sadistic Ironworks did my roll cage/rear seat delete. I paid $2500 for everything including powder coat and installation. Contact Bobby if interested.
