Thats a real bummer. Sorry to hear. Curious how it plays out with insurance and it was probably insured stock to begin with.

SCUD's usually looked like this in the end and generally missed the target. Sorry for your loss.

I hope you are compensated appropriately. That is horrible... so much time/effort/etc into it.

Man, this is heartbreaking. After so many iterations of F8X M3 / M4, your Ferrari Red F80 was one of my favorites. It was such a cool build to follow as the F80 production was winding down...almost like a "last hurrah" for the sedan life cycle.
Nonetheless, it's a relief to know that nobody was hurt in the mishap and you're still with the BMW community through and through—I have no doubt you'll come back with something really special soon enough!

I'm curious about how something like this works with insurance. Do they only replace the (depreciated) basis of the original vehicle, or will they pay out for any/some of the upgraded equipment?

Sad news. Rip.
I am curious as to how the insurance claim component will be handled when it comes to builds of this level. Does a car get appraised during various build stages to reflect increased value? |

If he had that in place he will most likely get large portion/all of his money back once he provides the receipts to the insurance company. If he did not its still possible that he will get his money back but it will all depend on the insurance company and if they want to play hardball because of the value of the modifications alone. |

This is terrible, so sorry to see this happen to a spectacular example of the F80 gen.

I looked back at the agreements from last few times I shipped car... "Carriers responsibility begins when the shipper or his agent signs the Bill of Lading/Vehicle Inspection at the pickup and ends when the shipper or his agent signs the Bill of Lading/Vehicle Inspection at delivery. " "Insurance: Trucking damage claims are covered by carrier from $100,000 up to $1,000,000 cargo insurance per load, and a minimum of 3/4 of a million dollars public liability and property damage. All claims must be noted and signed for at the time of delivery, and submitted in writing within 15 days of delivery." I guess this $1M could be problematic if you're loaded onto a 54' trailer with exotics,, etc. I never asked for a definition of "per load," I assumed this was referencing my car specifically, but reading the docs now...and seeing the actual worst case scenario, I probably should have asked more questions.
