F80 Valentine 1 hardware mishap --- need help!!

Hello gents/ladies,

I got my V1 hardwired yesterday and the next day immediately regretting taking it to the shop that I did.

1. Today, my entire rear view mirror assembly literally fell off after my wife noticed that some wires were exposed on the right side. I've attached photos of the assembly after I put it all back together -- my only concern here is the gap between the mirror assembly and the headliner. Can any 2018 F80 owners confirm this gap and that it's all good? Or did I reassemble it wrong and should take the time to go back to the shop for them to fix.

^gap between assembly and headliner that I'm concerned about

^It looks like the assembly lines up perfectly with the black outline that's on the glass itself that surrounds the rain sensor and connected drive sensor.

2. They hardwired it through the hood...is this normal? The V1 powers off/on with the car without issue, but I always thought the normal route was getting power from the fuse box in the glove compartment.

The easiest way is to tap the power from the mirror. But alas, you have to know about that possibility, and it doesn't seem like this shop did.

That gap is normal. Noticed it pretty quickly after picking up my '18. Pretty poor design

I used the mirror power. Typical BMW green/ brown wire from the overhead console. Little different wiring scheme without a sunroof but it is still there.
