Below are some pictures taken during the rotor change today.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Highest running temperature registered @800C (1,472F)

This rotor hat corner was damaged due to shearing off of wheel studs, but rotor continue to perform w/o being affected.

The other side of rotor

Rotor wear (original is 32mm)

Rotor braking surface in general

Area with crack

The hardware looks like new without any sign of stress or dislocation.

We only present the facts and will let the driver and team manager comment about the brake.

You guys still make 2 piece rotors WITHOUT the open slots? I would be interested if that's the case.

To be honest, the open slots are kind of gimmick and acts like stress concentrator, just like with drilled discs, and the effect of which can be seen from the pictures you have posted. If you want the disc to run cool, you are better off putting more vanes in the disc instead. What's the vane count on these rotors anyway?

All our design details are available on our website:

http://www.racingbrake.com/v/main/technology.asp

There is also a discussion originated on Corvette forum in design details here:

Racing Brake rotors vs AP Racing J hooks

http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/...j-hooks-2.html

We apologize that we do not respond to forum posting in regard to the brake design unless it's not published on our website, and the inquiry is received via PM or email.

Disc finish is pretty much an individual preference (we used to make plain, drill+slot, slotted etc.) which we only make them available, while we respect customer's choice, since it (you don't like open slot) is a subjective opinion so we can't make any comment.

You know I was actually considering buying a set of 2 piece rear rotors from you guys and give you guys a benefit of doubt despite the reported issues with your products from various other forums... But with this sort of attitude, I would rather pay 2-3x and get a full BBK from a more reputable manufacturer instead..

Not only none of your links provide any information on the question I asked about vane counts in your rotors. The fact that you discredit my concerns about those open slots being stress concentrators under severe track use as mere "subjective opinion" shows that you are quite full of $hit.

Good luck...

It doesn't sound like he is avoiding your question. He is telling you to contact him directly.

He's trying to avoid the forum pissing match that will likely happen.

OP was just showing you the wear after 45 track days.

Well said and thank you for your understanding.

We prefer to discuss on the design and tech merits on the brake products in general, and leave the decision to consumers than responding to a personal question or against his preference on a public forum.

If you search "RacingBrake" on rennlist (Porsche), Corvette Forum and GTRHeritage (GTR), MBWorld (Mercedes) or FerrariChat (Ferrari), you will find this has been our style of forum posting.

In fact RB was recently voted by Corvette owners, after some good debates to be the:

Best 2 pc light weight rotor for grand sport...

http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/...and-sport.html

Which was going on w/o our knowledge until some members brought to our attention that there is another thread comparing two brakes (RB and AP):

Racing Brake rotors vs AP Racing J hooks

And there are some misleading design criticism about RB from AP's representative, so we responded to them "point by point" in detail with supporting theory and proven that those criticism was groundless.

Here is our solid "track" record that we can provide, same as those on Scott's racing team, in responding to more questions from others.
  • RB offers the first aftermarket light weight two piece rotors for Z06 since 2006 (including other American muscle cars like Camaro, Mustang, Viper etc.)
  • RB two piece replacement rotors (including Z51) has the longest running history on Corvette community than any other competition.
  • RB makes more two piece replacement rotors (from Acura to VW) than all the competition combined.
  • RB and AP (represented by Stillen) co-exists in Nissan GTR community, as two top serious track racers' choice on brake rotors.

I hope above can help to clarify our position.

Thank you.

Warren-RB

The small crack in the one photo from the vent hole was not the crack that had us replacing the rotor rings, but the larger crack in the meat of the rotor. We raced on those rotors for 2 seasons, winning races at places like Road Atlanta. We have just finished racing our M4 at Sonoma and Laguna Seca on a set or their OEM replacement rotors
