HUD out of focus

Hello All,

I have an F82 2017, it was an accident damaged with the dashboard and front windshield replaced with genuine parts.

My issue is my HUD is blurry I have attached a picture below, I checked ISTA but not sure if you can adjust it.

Has anyone experienced an issue like this not sure if its the HUD or the windshield itself.

I did clean the HUD lens from the top of the dash but did not make any difference.

Thanks
Gee

I replaced my windshield w/ OEM part a couple weeks ago and the glass shop told me the HUD may need recalibration by a dealer. Luckily it didn't in my case.

HUD cars have a different windshield compared to non-HUD cars. Are you sure it was replaced with a HUD compatible windshield?

I checked on ista for calibration settings but nothing seems to fix.

Yes it’s 100% correct windscreen I ordered it from the bmw etk catalogue with my VIN.

Also when I collected the glass it had HUD written on the glass.

Been doing a research online and it seems some people have had similar issues aswell and it was due to bad batch of glass

I had this issue on two different windshields. Replaced it again with a OEM BMW windshield and it was perfect. Per the dealer there is no adjustment for the HUD, only the camera behind the rearview mirror.

I just went through that on my new M5. Had to replace the windshield that cracked from a hit by a rock on the road. The replacement windshield made the HUD projected information look out of focus. Then a week later, the new windshield cracked again from another rock. Talk about bad luck. Well, the new one is just fine when it come to the HUD image. I'm much happier with the current replacement. They were both done at the dealer with OEM glass.

Any chance the clear plastic housing on the dashboard isn't perfectly clear? If it has been wiped with a reactive cleaning solution it could be foggy.
