M4 Will Get:
  • Darkened tail lights
  • BMW Individual Frozen Dark Blue II paint option
  • Sakhir Orange/Black and Silverstone/ Black bi-color leather trim options for M4 with M Competition Package

Press Release:

BMW 4 Series, BMW M4 Coupe, BMW M4 Convertible: new paint finishes, light-alloy wheels and leather appointments.

The BMW 4 Series will present an even more alluring proposition from March 2019 thanks to new individualisation options. For example, the stylish elegance of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe will be showcased to particularly stunning effect by the BMW Individual paint finish Aventurine Red metallic and BMW Individual special paint finish Frozen Dark Grey metallic. The selection of colours available for the BMW 4 Series Coupe and BMW 4 Series Convertible now also includes Mediterranean Blue metallic. Newcomers to the range of optional equipment available for all BMW 4 Series models are 18-inch light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design and the bi-colour paint variant Orbit Grey, plus 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design and bi-colour Jet Black with mixed-size tyres.

The interior also contains some new and distinctive touches in the form of the Mocha colour shade for the optional Dakota leather trim on Sport Line, Luxury Line and M Sport cars and interior trim strips in Carbon Fibre, which are available in conjunction with M Sport specification. The M Sport and Sport Line variants of the BMW 4 Series will now be fitted with black rear light screens and a BMW kidney grille surround in High-gloss Black as standard.

Darkened rear lights are also set to adorn the rear of the BMW M4 Coupe and BMW M4 Convertible. The BMW Individual paint finish Frozen Dark Blue II will be offered as an option for the two high-performance models from March 2019. Plus, the BMW M4 Coupe with M Competition package can be ordered with two new bi-colour leather trim options. BMW Individual fine-grain Merino full leather trim is available in the Sakhir Orange/Black and Silverstone/ Black combinations.

Thanks for the info, I'm very interested in the darkened tail lights. I've had no urge to update to LCI tails on my 2015, but if they go with a kind of shadow/black line look I'll certainly consider it!

Too bad they won't just throw the OLEDs on there from the GTS though. ;P

That Sakhir/black interior is lovely!

Frozen dark blue however, who makes these choices?!

Probably the inventory guy who found out they had some leftover paint from the CS run .

Kidding aside, with SMB now being a standard colour on the M4, it was probably straightforward to make a frozen colour out of it by simply changing the finishing glaze.

With Frozen Dark Blue now being offered on the base M4, Lime Rock Grey is the only remaining true exclusive colour for the CS .

While these additions are cool and spice up the last production run of the M4, they are not that flamboyant. I wonder if BMW is cooking up some special edition to end the F82 run with a bang.

I don't particularly like the full Sakhir Orange interior, particularly with a Sakhir Orange exterior, but I would have been all over that Black/Sakhir Orange interior if it were available when I ordered my 2016 Sakhir Orange/Black M4.

SMB is not standard globally, only in certain regions.

Now they release a red color and its not even a nice shade.

Aventurine Red Metallic is way too dark.

The point is many SMB M4 will be rolling off the assembly line because it is now a standard colour in most parts of the world, even if BMW NA keep charging extra for it.

To be clear, that color is being added only to the 4 Series (Gran Coupe is mentioned specifically - not sure if it will also apply to the coupe and convertible), not the M4. And the 4 Series model already has Melbourne Red available, so this simply adds a darker red option to the mix. The M4, meanwhile, soldiers on toward EOP with no standard red color.

In any case, I happen to love the look of Aventurine Red. It's a very nice "candy apple" red.

Oh I see. I saw the red M4 posted up top and thought red was now available. Then I looked up the color since it was way darker than the one posted.

The Sakhir Orange M3 posted in the OP does indeed look somewhat red.

But, no more red than the one in your signature, ironically. You should have the inside line on being able to spot Sakhir Orange masquerading as red due to lighting and/or photo processing/quality.

Just got a 2019 M4 and glad to see I didn't miss out on much by not waiting for 2020. I do like that black/SO interior though...

I may be in the minority here, but I think the red/black interior here is poorly executed. Much prefer the scheme used in the e92 regarding the 2tone interiors. Just my .02.

I have the inverse of the 2 tone leather interior on my 2017 F80. Had to custom order it so even though it's Sakhir exterior paint, I still have the "individual" tag on it!
