BMW M4 Gets M Competition Package Standard Starting July 2019
BIMMERPOST NEWS BMW M4 Gets M Competition Package Standard Starting July 2019 BMW M4 Coupe and BMW M4 Convertible: M Competition package now standard. BMW M GmbH is sharpening the profile of its high-performance sports car models in the midsize premium segment as part of a restructuring of its product offering. From July 2019, the BMW M4 Coupe and BMW M4 Convertible will come as standard with the M Competition package previously offered as an option. As a result, their six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology will generate increased output of 331 kW/450 hp. The M Competition package also adds Adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers, an extra-sporty configuration for the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system and the Active M Differential, plus an M Sport exhaust system, 20-inch M light-alloy wheels, BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line trim with extended features, and specially designed M seats. Standard specification for the BMW M4 Coupe and BMW M4 Convertible from July 2019 will also include the HiFi speaker system.

The price will almost certainly be equal to the previous base price, plus Competition Package price.
Edit: Looks like I was mistaken about the audio - if I'm understanding correctly, that's a downgrade, not an upgrade. The Harmon Kardon audio had been standard equipment in past model years (except, IIRC, the first model year, MY2015). Therefore, the deletion of that from the list of standard equipment (if I'm getting this right) could offset the base price increase a bit. |

That said, I should probably not be quite so pessimistic. It is possible that the base price ends up increasing by somewhat less than the price than Competition package which was $4750 for the coupe and $4250 for the convertible. This is especially true if my understanding about the downgraded audio is correct. Lets wait and see what they've decided. |

Are the specially designed M sport seats the ones with the cutouts?

I have a 2020 ZCP on order for a PCD delivery this summer. Saw this thread pop up and it sparked my interest. I am wondering how the pricing will play out. I've already contacted my CA and asked him to look into it.
If the base price doesn't go up by $4750 for these July-onward cars, I'm gonna be real pissed about my current order at the old base + ZCP price. They wouldn't let me order a 2019 in January even though production ended in February knowing the pricing was going to be better on the '19s, and now this bullshit. To top it off, I cancelled an ED for this May on another car I had a production # for because of shit ED pricing. BMW is really on my last nerve. Edit: My car started production today. I guess I'm shit out of luck either way. |

In global markets, I believe that a third, even more basic audio option exists for the 4 Series, so it may be that it is optional for the M4 in some of those markets as well. If this is the case, the change may simply be that this equipment has been eliminated from the M4 parts list entirely, causing the former second tier audio to become standard as a consequence. However, this would not effect the US where we never had the low end option to begin with and, since 2015, have had the highest end factory audio system as standard equipment anyway. |

So the "M4C" begins with the F82 instead of G82, lol.

To call the 20" alloy wheels "light" is certainly a stretch. I wonder if the quintessential 19" 437Ms will still be available as an option.

It's cost cutting from a manufacturer standpoint to only offer the ZCP as standard, less production variables improves supplier procurement pricing via economy's of scale and assembly line efficiency.
The 2020 model year should be the swan song for the F82/F83, except for special editions early next year.

Just like how SMB is now a standard metallic paint option since the F80 EOP. Patience pays off!
