Bad week to buy an M4. All of the rebates are gone until 7/7. No sign of a no cost ZCP! My 2020 M4 is at the dealer waiting for me to finalize the deal. I’m out of town and not able to get to the dealer until next week. I hope that the big discounts begin on 7/8!

BMW did offer "free" individual paint options for the final F80 model year.

I see what your saying. I guess better rebates and incentives would work for me as they would apply for all 2020 model year F82/3s
Yup, got my Azurite Black free of charge.

Gotta move the metal - free ZCP helps. Drive thru the back lot at ur dealer - you'd be surprised. Mine here has two M4s one ZCP and one non ZCP sitting back there. Probably cause they don't want buyers to know how much inventory is actually lying around.

Did we ever get confirmation that ZCP is forced on 2020 M4's or can we still choose the regular non-ZCP M4 when ordering?

It is clearly stated in the BMW corporate (worklwide) press site that the Competition Package is now standard on all M4 starting with July production. I think we can safely deduce that this implies the "base" version will no longer be available.

May 2019 press release, BMW model update measures for summer 2019:

Quote:
BMW M4 Coupe and BMW M4 Convertible: M Competition package now standard.

BMW M GmbH is sharpening the profile of its high-performance sports car models in the midsize premium segment as part of a restructuring of its product offering. From July 2019, the BMW M4 will come as standard with the M Competition package previously offered as an option. As a result, their six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology will generate increased output of 331 kW/450 hp. The M Competition package also adds Adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers, an extra-sporty configuration for the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system and the Active M Differential, plus an M Sport exhaust system, 20-inch M light-alloy wheels, BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line trim with extended features, and specially designed M seats.

It should be removed once they update the 2020 Model on their configurator. The only unknown is will they raise the price?

On the German Website, you can already build the M4 which comes standard with the comp package.

Note that the 2020 M4 began production in March. So the change was never going to be all of MY2020, it is a mid-model year update beginning with July 2019 production.

Unfortunately, there is no updated M4 ordering/pricing guide for the US at this point. So, we don't know if they've somehow opted out (unlikely, but possible), or if the communications is simply lagging (which is very typical for BMW NA).

I dont see how BMW NA could have “opted out” for this one. From what I understand, local distributors can establish what factory options are standard and how options are packaged for their markets but they cannot “remove” standard factory items from the build configuration.

I agree with you, but sometimes unexpected things happen so I wanted to allow for the possibility. There have been cases in the past where, for example, new engines are rolled out for a model everywhere but the US, leaving the US with an oddball build that no doubt complicates things at the factory. I am not suggesting that BMW NA has petitioned AG to allow them to keep the Competition Package optional, just that the change as it was announced could have exceptions that were left out for simplicity.

Again, I am not betting on this scenario, just allowing for the possibility since we have absolutely no word from BMW NA about ordering and pricing from July onward even though it's already the second week of July.

It really shouldn't be though since the ZCP hardware probably doesn't cost any more to produce than the base parts.

But, we know how BMW operates.

True!

Now it's 7/13 - I'm assuming when one specs out an M4 at the dealer, it will automatically put in ZCP?

Not a fan of the competition pack... like this and every M3/4 I have purchased, base car is the way to go. Why? Cause I never leave my cars stock... and I just do not find anything appealing about it and not worth the extra money.

Makes sense, for you. I leave mine pretty much "bone" with a couple small mods. Seats alone make it worth the while, along with the sports exhaust. I live in a nice neighborhood so I try to be somewhat "neighborly" No performance exhaust needed.

I'm in the process of buying a new 2020 M4, which is being built now, and have confirmed with the dealer, regional rep, and euro delivery head that this is not happening in the US (or at least that's what they are saying as of yesterday).

None of them have any official information on this and no system changes have been made to accommodate a "standard" ZCP. In fact the dealer told me yesterday that he has another order placed just last week for a 2020 M4 ZCP, not being built until September, and it's still a full package price.

Has anyone heard different?

Nope. I just signed and finalized my 2020 M4 for PCD yesterday. My CA looked into it and couldn't find anything for North America.

That doesn’t say anything. If someone can get a base M4 (without ZCP) produced after August, that would tell us something.

It is quite possible that BMW USA does not change anything in their pricing guides but it is just not possible to order an M4 without ZCP.

It certainly provides some context.

The press release of "M4 gets ZCP Standard" is absolutely being understood differently from "You must now order ZCP on the M4" at full package price. This thread alone is proof of that.

Simply put, it would be nice to have some sort of definitive direction from BMW on this to end the confusion.

The way I understand the press release is that the M4 will no longer be produced without the competition package. How each local distributors decide to market this may vary.
